It's important when reading about the history of anything to get information
from the different countries/people involved because publications from each
will tell it from their own perspective.

A few weeks I go I laid hands on a pillow, of which the husband of the owner
told me it was bought in Belgium. Iam sure it not an original Belgium pillow.
I think it is the shape of a Maltese pillow of perhaps Spanish. Who can help

That's a really sweet thought, Jeri, trouble is her birthday is on February

something for my other 3 co-workers. They won't know how much work goes into
each piece.

Gon - which pillow are you referring to? The blue one with bobbins on it, or
the one covered in green - photo before the last?
The green one is definitely a very narrow Maltese pillow, but it is covered
with some green cloth which seems to be a bit like a bag, whereas the

happens to know where this pattern came from. I have never done Binch lace but

Alex,
That is an amazing piece of lace. Wish the photo would allow for a
closer view in some spots. That is something as a newer lace maker I
hope to be able to do someday.
Thank you for sharing!

Hello sof, and everyone
I had seen pictures of the red, white and blue lace Eiffel Tower, placed at
the entrance to the OIDFA Caen congress. I wondered who had made it. Now I
know!
It is an impressive *big* lace including the large bobbin supports. It was
fun to see more pictures of it again, the

The potentials for lace within the Czech Slovak Museum are really vast.
For one thing, all areas of the Austro Hungarian empire seemed to be
engaged in Art Nouveau lace. There was an exhibit about Alphonse Mucha at the
Czech Slovak museum. I wonder if he designed any lace.

Hello Sof,
when I saw the topic above in the discussion I thought immediately on you and
your doll as you introduced it to me before the OIDFA congress in Caen. And
when we meet there I told you that I don't think the tour Eiffel is a doll, do
you remember ;-)))
But it's a big and lovely work.
Yes, this really is one of the most beautiful pieces of lace I've ever seen...
But wait! There's more! Alex designed and made this lace and sent it to a
competition. It was never seen again! Lost or stolen...
So, she made the one you have seen in the picture!

Lovely! I remember this. It was stolen, so Alex made a second one with a
change in one detail so it's possible to tell one from the other if the
original one was found. So that 1200 hours was done twice!
So, if you
see this lace in person... and Alex is not with it you may be looking
It is absolutely a gorgeous piece of lace. Stunning.
What a shame that it got lost. And if it was stolen, I can't imagine that
the person who took it will be happy with it.

This isn't the biggest piece of lace I've ever worked, but it is right
up there with the hardest!! I made a major mistake or two back in
