Hello one and all
I had a very quiet Christmas day - I actually laid around and read 2
romances! DH was at work and the 'children' were all off doing their own
things, so I got some time to do my own. The Card exchange prickings are now
also available individually under the respective scans and
I have been asked to teach a group of Girl scouts to make lace. I need to
locate 12 dozen bobbins by the end of next month. Does anyone know of a good
site that sells cheap bobbins in bulk? I don't have a ton of money right now
and with it being busy season at work I don't have the time to make
Hello there
Someone recently reminded me about dialup - I have been on broadband for
several years now and had forgotten just how long a graphic page can take to
download. So to make it easier for those of us who are on dialup there is a
new page that just shows the thumbnail views - the whole
Is anyone else unable to connect to the Lace Guild website today?

Hopefully it's a problem with the ISP and not the website, but David
and Jean are away for a few days so no point in asking them.

I believe it is Demon - the ISP - our own company website and email retreival
is also down. Hope they get it back working soon.

Thanks Andrea for your prompt reply. I'll try again in a couple of

Christmas and New Year
Happy Boxing Day to all of you.
This year for Christmas presents, I made up Janice`s poppy pattern. After
making it into a poppy, I then mounted it onto a small oblong of marble. Being
a dark colour it showed the poppies off to perfection.
Everyone who receive one has been very pleased with it.
Just tried the Lace Guild web site and it worked OK for me - 4.15 pm GMT
(think that's what winter time is).

Greetings, Lacemakers!
I have just returned home after spending the last three days with my DD and her
family (two boys, ages 6 and 9, made for a lively three days!!). I actually
did not go online a single time during our trip. It was great to hear from so
many of you via Arachne. I hope
An idea - being that they are Girl Scouts, could they make their own
bobbins? the paper bobbins for instance, long triangles wrapped around
skewer sticks, or the pony bead style - probably faster.

Hi Janice
I think your book title translates on Of (about) the fish crisis and (to do
with) the golden age of lace - quite a few laces were developed to give
some income to fisherfolk at a time when the primary resource of fishing
wasn't viable. Rosaline lace from the Netherlands comes to mind.
Hi,
I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas, whether with family and friends, or
a quiet one like my DH and I had. We celebrated Christmas last Sunday so we
were eating leftovers on Christmas Day. I saved the Christmas Pud until then
though. No use wasting it on people who can't appreciate

Hi Jane and other lacers,
Most of my Christmas gifts included lace this year...snake bookmarks and
bangle tree decorations for the children (about 20 of each), lengths of bobbin
lace and tatting for SIL, a large doily for MIL and small 'scrapebooking bits'
for the teenagers including
