Hello all ,
I'm trying to create a custom kernel for my net4501 board based on elan
processor of amd.
When building the kernel using the .config file of bering 1.2 for kernel
2.4.20 including the bering patches , i alway come into problems when
building the modules :

Some weeks back I saw a thread that talked about using the ext3
filesystem on a Bering firewall. I have a small file server for use
with Samba on my Bering 1.1 firewall and would like to switch from
ext2 to ext3.
I copied the suggested files ext3.o and jbd.o to boot/lib/modules.
Insmod ext3.o

I capied these lrps onto my boot media and set them up in lrpkg.cfg.
However when Bering-Uclibc 1.2 loads I get a failure on both packages.
netsnmpd says that /usr/sbin/snmpd: No Such file or Directory. The file
exists but I get the same error

ext3.o depends on jbd.o
So you need to declare them in your /etc/modules file in this order:
jbd
ext3
Also since you are using Bering 1.1 you need to use the corresponding modules
tree

Good Evening all
I have recently replaced the CF card in my Openbrick 520E. The new

This is a followup to earlier traffic, shown below.
My problem now seems to be the DHCP daemon wants to activate before the
PCMCIA card is available, so it cannot find interface eth0.
Running dhcpd at the command line promptly fires it

Hi David,
Have you asked the same question in the mailing list at Openbrick.Org?

Once I get the modules loaded, do I need to run fdisk to convert the
filesystem or can I just edit the fstab file to mount as ext3?
You need to create the journal, use the correct utility listed below.
Do NOT use fdisk to do this!
Charles,
The MIB structure txt files are removed because they are not needed
for the snmpd daemon, only for the snmp client.
I just installed the netsnmpd.lrp package with lrpkg -i and started
the daemon with svi snmpd start without problems. Can you double
check if the downloaded package
Hey, what´s up?
I am using a normal bering 1.2 boot disk, but now I
need to add one module and another package (nicstar.o
and atmtools.lrp) and when I try to back up any
package or the floppy I don´t have space enough
because those files are too big. Is there any way to
make a boot disk in two

In my messings about with this stuff, I seemed to frequently get my versions mixed up.
It would be worthwhile to check that the mii.o and the 8139too modules are compiled
against the kernel you are using.
I have used mii and 8139too in the past without any trouble. PCI-Scan and rtl8139 is
Lynn,
Thank you for the response. I tried the tune2fs as you suggested.
When I execute it I get:
# ./tune2fs -j /dev/hdc1
tune2fs 1.27 (8-Mar-2002)
ext2fs_check_if_mount: No such file or directory while determining
whether /dev/hdc1 is mounted.
I have tried it with the disk mounted and
