I think this discussion would be more appropriate on the Beancount
mailing list. Happy to continue it there.

Cheers.

By import/deduplication you mean importing transactions from bank, right?

I am trying to find any beancount import projects on github, but don't see
anything.
There are lots of them for ledger CLI though.

Any recommendation you can have?

p.s. I am in USA, and have a chase bank if it matters.

Legacy reasons, mostly. I have a 5+ years LedgerCLI-based accounting
workflow and I'm slowly migrating it over to Beancount. The missing
peace is import/deduplication, and I haven't yet find the time to
migrate to bean-extract.

Stefano, looking into ledger2beancount right now. Thank you for suggestion.

Why do you prefer ledger CLI for day-to-day accounting over beancount?
At the moment i playing with both and trying to decide what are cons/pros.

Not answering directly your question, but you might be interested in
ledger2beancount[^] and using Fava on the automatically generated
conversion to beancount from your main ledger. I'm using ledger as my
day-to-day plain text accounting tool, but rely on Fava as web UI
(because it's just *great*), automatically generating beancount at every
git push to my personal ledger repo.

Cheers

What reporting commands / tools do you use?

2018-04-08 Thread mployby
Guys hi,

I am pretty new to plain text accounting, i am using ledger CLI(emacs +
ledger mode) for week or so now, like the flexibility over cashGNU.

One thing i am a little bit lost at right now is reporting. I know basic
commands like ledger -f name.dat balance, but there should be more to it.

Any tips you can give? What reporting commands / tools do you use and find
more useful?

p.s. I was playing with beancount and really liked the web UI reporting of
fava. Is there something similar for ledger?
