I hate the playoffs. They are unfair, and an example of the creeping

Cheers!
That is a bit like the Rugby Union play-offs were when originally brought in.
Strange thing was that the team who qualified for the final (nearly) always
lost it, as they were a bit rusty compared to the team who had to play a few
games to get there!!

So with a win tomorrow Bournemouth would get to the play off final.
I agree with you Dave
proper promotion and no americanization
without playoffs our season would have ended a couple of months ago, as for
playoffs being unfair, balderdash, the rules are known when the season
starts, so how can it be unfair?

Oh and just think, Ian Harte is 90 mins away from a return to the premiership!
Without the playoffs we wouldn't be looking at this hysterical scenario. I'm
supporting Reading just for the reason of seeing Harte get skinned week in week
out next season. Of course chances are he'll be offloaded

I think the current promotion/relegation setup is very good. However, any
expansion of the playoffs beyond the current number would adversely dilute the
league season. I also like that the relegated teams don't get some sort of
playoff lifeline at the end of their crappy/failed league season.

It's an americanisation of our national sport and, as such I am against them on
that principle. However

As an attempt at extending the worth of games at the end of the season

I've grown to like them, despite our appalling record in them.
But I'd prefer to see a system that favours the teams that finished higher
during the season, like this:
Third placed team automatically qualifies for the Wembley final.
Sixth plays fifth, with fifth having home advantage.
What I want to know is how Torquay (who finished 7th in Div 4 on 68 pts) are in
the playoffs, whilst we (7th on 72) are not.
