I feel sorry for these guys. Whether one is personally offended by their choices of words or phrases or not, and no matter how stupid they were to say such things when microphones were around, they clearly were in an environment where they felt relaxed and secure. They trusted the people around them and it obviously never occurred to any of them that their jobs might be at stake because of their casual, laddish conversations. Non of the comments were ever meant to personally offend anyone. Anyone who says that they've never said anything about anyone else that might offend them if they heard it - I don't believe you! Again, these guys had mics and cameras around them, so they should perhaps have been more careful, but beware - we live in an age of increasing surveillance and everybody you meet has a video camera in their pocket. Fancy losing your job because you made a comment about someone at the match last week and some 'mate' recorded it on his phone and sent it to your boss? It's a bit odd that they've used an earlier instance of sexist behaviour to justify his sacking, though. He was warned as to his conduct this weekend, and then they've dug out something from before he was warned and fired him - it's not like he could take the warning into consideration. I'm not at all surprised to hear he's instructed Schillings. (Isn't he suing the News Corp-owned News of the World right now?) It's a bit odd that they've used an earlier instance of sexist behaviour to justify his sacking, though. is it really? you get a warning and if you do it again its OUT.
