From what you have written, it seems that you want to export to a
Gedcom file but you press Select file name and start import, which
seems to be the opposite of creating/exporting a Gedcom file.
Also, maybe your Default location of family files is not
C:\Legacy\Data\ as indicated under
Not really. Select file name... allows the user to update a Gedcom
fileor enter a new file name.

Make sure the repository where you are making the scans allows the
equipment. The US National Archives only allows flat bed scanners that are the
size of the document being scanned. You can't copy a legal size document on a
flat bed that is only 8.5 x 11.

In that time, I have benefited greatly from research done by others.

Is it true? No. You can still do any work you want on your tree with the 3
exceptions:
1. The Legacy News on the Legacy Home tab wouldn't have the most current news.
2. If you want to sync your tree with new.familysearch.org,(LDS) that wouldn't
work.
3. Any use of Bing maps in the Master
Of course I turned off my internet and tried it :) But this person

Brian,
To avoid printing complications, may I suggest you write all Umlauts with an
e which is standard practice worldwide. Thus ae = ä
/ oe = ö / ue = ü. You should also abbreviate the 16 German states.
Baden-Wuerttemberg = BW and Germany = DE. Thus your location
should read ...
Thanks for the location advice,
