Hi Georges,
There isn't a way in Legacy to do that en bloc if it's in the group of
Sentences under the Edit Event Sentence Definition button on the Edit
Event screen. You can do it in Access.
You can do it for Sentence Overrides which have a separate tab in the
Edit Event screen - Sorry I don't
Jay,
I was not clear. I was referring to the case where a TNG user was
updating their site to add in status elements. If they were to add the
status, say Stillborn, as as event in Custom events, that would remain
from import to import, but the data attached to any individual would not
Jay,
The Gedcom that Roots Magic and Legacy use for shared events is
identical. We have done extensive testing on this.
It was based, in part, on this common Gedcom that we approached Darrin
and asked for support as it was not just a Legacy thing.
I also do not use Shared events but would like
I also do not use unknown, I just leave the unknown field empty, but
sometimes you have to enter something just to get Legacy to work.
Example ... I add a wife to a known person (wife's first name found in the
census with that known person), and I do not know her parents. All I have is

You shouldn’t have any unknown-unknown marriages. These can be easily deleted.
If you go to the Marriage List, highlight an unknown-unknown then go to

can safely remove the link. If there are two or more
I am going to look at this template a little closer against EE and then go from

Barton and Nancy,
I have tested this template against EE and found a couple of different issues.
I have entered this into our bug tracking system (issue #5688). The fix will
appear in a future update but there is no way to know exactly when that will
be. For now you will need to adjust the

The alternative, that I don't want to consider for the moment, is to change
them all manually.

Gerald,
I agree with you that trying to manually modify GEDCOM in Excel would me an
impossible task. That’s why I wrote Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) code
(i.e., Excel macros) to do the modifying automatically. Think of the
macro-enable spreadsheet as a GEDCOM preprocessor in going

An important element in treating unknown names is

I cant answer the question as to why Legacy does the things it does as far
as name conventions.
But I have a large database of almost 250,000.
The problems come most often because of exchanging gedcoms where importing

I use the old LNU (last name unknown), which groups them all in the

I agree with John about how easily date modifiers get lost. For a start
they don't show in many indexes. So I also put dates in privacy brackets.
However, in Legacy I don't feel the need to put something in the Death

Using Access, I think you can use a Regular Expression function to search for
parts of a string. Be nice to add Regular Expressions to Legacy.

The name list or index would include the name RODRIGUEZ Y SANTIAGO if that is
what is entered as a surname. It would then be fairly easy to find.

Were you trying to view the webinar from your iPad? If I remember
correctly Apple iPads do not support Flash video and that is what the
webinar site uses. You will need to use a device with Adobe Flash player
installed to view the video.
