[LegacyUG] Surety v sources

2013-07-30 Thread Sue Anderson
It is all very well putting surety levels on sources, it’s surety levels on
interpretation of the sources that is my worry. I know that parish records are
a primary source but the quality is only as good as the person entering the
info. How do I know if this John Smith is correct and the one baptized in the
next parish isn’t the one. At least 10% were not baptized there may have been
yet another one. None of this is anything to do with the surety of the source.
I would like to be able to show on the family view my level of certainty of the
evidence. Something along the line of a colour for that whole line which may or
may not be correct.

[LegacyUG] Legacy 7.5 support on Android, Netbook or Tablets

2013-07-30 Thread Jeff Padell
I just got rid of my laptop and now have a desktop, needless to say I cannot
lug it to the LDS Library. When I had a palm pilot there was a program that
allowed your data to be stored on the palm.

Is there anything for Legacy other than another laptop? i.e. an Android
device or a tablet or netbook?

RE: [LegacyUG] Legacy 7.5 support on Android, Netbook or Tablets

2013-07-30 Thread Jeff Padell
I will look into that, in the meantime this morning I may have found a cheaper
alternative to a new device, I dug my old Acer Win XP laptop out of the attic
and booted it up, it actually worked.

I am downloading Legacy 7.5 right now (it had 7.0 on it), it is a lot bigger
than an android but I already have it

Thanks

Actually Ward, the error is that there is no period following the last

there should be a second period outside the close parenthesis to end the

Yes, Basic style sources are still included for those who do not wish to
use Sourcewriter. The Source Quality feature Geoff demonstarted has been
added to those as well.

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Family Tree 8 Revealed - Sources

2013-07-30 Thread Brian/Support
In Evidence by Elizabeth Shown Mills, our source for the analysis
feature there are only the two source categories
Original sources—material in its first oral or recorded form. Examples:
the testimony of someone relating events that he or she personally
experienced or witnessed; or an original document created by a party
with firsthand knowledge of the information recorded.

Derivative sources—material produced by copying an original or
manipulating its content; e.g., abstracts, compilations, databases,
extracts, transcripts, translations, and authored works such as
historical monographs or family histories.

In her categories authored works are just a subset of derivative.

Likewise she does not use Undetermined for Information either.

My understanding is that a level 0 would be undetermined status and 1

Re: [LegacyUG] Legacy Family Tree 8 Revealed - Sources

2013-07-30 Thread Ward Walker
Brian, you are right that the period currently after the word 'situation'
should be moved to after the last parenthesis, but that is not what I meant
at all. I was referring to the first closing parenthesis, not the second
one. The word 'knowledge' should be outside of the parenthetical expression.

Actually Ward, the error is that there is no period following the last
close parenthesis. Etc. is an abbreviation which ends in a period so
there should be a second period outside the close parenthesis to end the
sentence. I have submitted a bug report to have the issue fixed.

RE: [LegacyUG] Legacy Family Tree 8 Revealed - Sources

2013-07-30 Thread Angela Gabbard
However, Elizabeth Shown Mills did discuss her new process map at NGS this
year and it was in her syllabus and of course Thomas Jones published Mastering
Genealogical Proof this year as well. Jones' book details the use of these new
categories and I was informed that they will be included in ESM's newest
edition of Evidence whenever it gets published. It would be nice to have
these new categories included from the get-go since they have been published
and accepted in the genealogical community.

[LegacyUG] Error when trying to preview the To Do List

2013-07-30 Thread C. DeLay
I'm coming up with the following error when I'm in the Reports All
Reports menu. If I choose To Do list, and then click on preview it
appears to create but at the very end, I get the following error:

Error saving record to index work file.
Error 91: Object variable or With block variable not set
Would you like to TRY IT AGAIN?

I have looked online for Error 91 (and get taken here...
http://www.legacyfamilytree.com/helpJetServPk.asp) and tried to follow all
the steps (resetting the temp file location, check/repair, etc) and I'm
still getting the error. I'm running the latest Legacy build (7.5.0.219)
and use Windows 7 (there is no information for Win 7 users on that page).

Any ideas?
