Mime,
It is not uncommon during 19c for English people to lie about relationships
on a census. I have a family which was full of contradictions such as those
you illustrate, and it was only when I got the BCs for a number of children
that I found a history of illegitimacy covering two

Jennifer,
Half way down on the left hand side, you will see boxes for presumed dead.
However on re-reading your post I think you want the one for the Chronology
tab; this is on the options button (right-hand side) then Report Options. Do
keep in mind that this is intended only as an guesstimate
Thanks everyone! Both of these methods are great.
Ron, as an aside, I don't think Ron was suggesting that I need to actually
post the actual DOB for anyone living on FB (nor is that my intent) but
rather this is just another method to get the information I was looking for
and it puts it in a

Inta,
Have you used the ToolsAdvanced Sourcing screen, which allows you to apply
the same source to multiple individuals or marriages at one time? First
create a list of the individuals you wish to apply the source to and tag
them with one of your tags. Then go to the ToolsAdvanced Sourcing
Export to a GEDCOM and re-importing will change all sources to the Basic
Style. The GEDCOM Standard does not support the many fields for sources
that SourceWriter requires.

Liz,
I tested your statement that SourceWriter (SW) style sources could be
created in earlier versions of Legacy and found that, because of a bug,
you could be offered the option and would be allowed to create SW
sources in 7.4 despite having only the Standard Version. That bug is now

Thanks Ron.

The tree Finder is also in V5 and V7. A tree with only one person is an
unlinked individual.
Search Find Miscellaneous Tab Unlinked Individuals will also find
these people with the added advantage that you can then create a report
on them if you wish.

When I entered a source, I mistakenly put it into Unspecified when it should
have been under census. How can I move it from the unspecified to census?

You could copy the source into the Source Clipboard, assign it to the
field you want it in, then delete it from the Unspecified field.
Since this toolbar attempts to link to the Ancestry.com home page via
our website I have referred this problem to our website guru so he can
investigate and fix the link on our website.

Legacy will not run from a thumb drive, but you could create a gedcom
in Legacy and then create a self-viewing gedcom in GENViewer, which
would allow you to show the data to your family without installing
anything on the person's computer.
Pictures are not included in gedcoms, however.
