I had not used Name List (or Marriage List) because of inflexibility (not just
its lack of sorting of any of the display fields). I would like various subsets
of names.
Because of that, (in Name List – not Marriage List) I did not take notice of
the Optional Fields ‘Born’ and ‘Died’ are
Glad it worked II

If you are going to be using Excel, the easiest work around for the date
issue is to change the date format in Legacy at Options - Customise 5.1
to -mm-dd and then make the Date columns in Excel Number or Text
rather than Date.
You still have problems with the prefixes.

Thanks - that did it! Another prime example of why to keep your program
updated. I had missed this update from 3 days ago. Such a simple solution.
I'm a happy camper( er, genealogist), again.

I have read Legacy 9 Unlocked and Geoff just clicks on the Preview button
and sees it on screen. He flips to view it often. This look great and so I
am trying it on a couple of my own individuals.
My problem: I click on Preview button and it automatically goes to my
printer. I tried the Reset
You do not say which id number you want but all the numbers you can add
to a person are always visible in the edit screen, they are not
optional. Since that is where they are added they have to displayed with
their input box. If you mean the internal Legacy RIN that is displayed
in the title
I know that in Legacy v8, one can make id numbers visible in the edit
screen, but I don't recall how to *navigate through the options* to make
this happen.
In v9, how does one do this?

If you are able to sort dates correctly in Excel then you are using a
workaround/add on. You have to use a workaround and most of these are too
advanced for the average user. I tested this again recently using Excel 365

I found the link below which provides a comprehensive discussion of the Excel

I am sure there are other discussions and work arounds. This was just one of
the more comprehensive discussions that I found.
There is(or used to be) an Excel Add-on you can install for pre 1900
dates but in its raw form versions of Excel up to 2007 did not
understand dates before 1 Jan 1900. Dates were stored internally as the
number of days since 1 Jan 1900. If your Excel is working for dates
before 1 Jan 1900
Michele, your current tip contains the following: "Excel can't handle pre-1901
dates so you will have a problem sorting by columns."
Excel Does not have a problem with dates prior 1901. It can handle all formats
of dates. I have several spreadsheets with some having thousands of records

You can export the Name List and any Search List as a CSV file and then open
