Let me know if I really need to explain the steps for creating a hyperlink
button to a local image ;)

pdf demonstrating three portions of a sequence of columnar events

Attached .pdf demonstrates how Hyperlink Buttons Anchored to a Cell with resize
and Fit to Cell size options enabled, diminish in size simply as more links are
appended to the ensuing rows.
It's possible The earlier "random" displacement may be the result of exposing
"hidden" column groups but cannot be proven.
The two later series clearly demonstrate how the button slowly shrinks as
subsequent buttons are appended.
Buttons are appended daily and link to a local image
Button 346 is today - the counter is automatic

This problem has been resolved. As mentioned, my Grammar checking was no longer
working also, in accordance with a suggestion on that bug report, I installed
the Windows KB3063858 update and it has resolved both that problem, and this.
All components open properly for me now.

As a side note, I mentioned previously that I was not getting a prompt to
submit a bug report, the reason for this, is I had forgotten to turn them back
on in options after trying different options to resolve the crashing problem.
Sorry for the mistake.
Thank you all for your assistance.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 149390] New: From Insert Hyperlink... (to Document), search doesn't drill down

2022-05-30 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=149390

Bug ID: 149390
Summary: From Insert Hyperlink... (to Document), search doesn't
drill down
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: minor
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: lblyt...@gmail.com

Insert Hyperlink... (+K) opens a dialogue.
Select the Document option on the left, to link to a document known to exist on
a local filesystem.
To the right of the Path: textbox, click the Open File button to launch a file
browser in order to locate the document.
The file browser offers a search button (via a magnifying-glass icon at the
upper-right).

The search facility only finds "hits" immediately below the directory in which
the search is launched - it doesn't drill down into subdirectories below that.
So, unless you know the parent directory of the document you're looking for,
the search is basically useless: instead you may as well just manually browse
the current directory for the document.

Have marked comments obsolete that were achieved in the patches in comment 8

Good day Mehrad and thank you for taking your time to report.

I agree that "user interface" options should not effect the document

and would change per users settings.

I believe this is a needed enhancement and have cc'd the UX team for review.

Bug ID: 149388
Summary: deleting 'the' tracks the change as 'moved (deletion)'
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 7.3.3.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org

Description:
deleting the word 'the' tracks the change as 'moved (deletion)'

Steps to Reproduce:
1. open "move insertion p7.docx"
2. toggle on "Record Track Changes"
3. double-click one of the occurrences of "the"
4. press Delete key

Actual Results:
the text is marked green with double-strike thru, indicating 'moved (deletion)'

Expected Results:
should be the yellow single strike thru of simply being deleted

Reproducible: Always

User Profile Reset: No

Additional Info:
I can't upload the entire document. True, you can remove the second 'moved
(deletion)' and the first one won't happen, but there is no connection even to
the second one and neither should have ever happened. (notice there are
multiple paragraph marks between them) Now in this document whenever any "the"
is deleted I get the 'moved (deletion)' tag.

I am not sure you are using Breeze icon here. Can not say which one is that as
I never draw those style in any icon theme. The closest one is Colibre which
use Win95 style. Or is it mono version? There's mono version but I don't know

Hi Nazen, thanks for reporting this issue.

According to the Help page (see [1]) the statistic "Characters" is defined as
"Number of characters, including spaces, in the file. Non-printable characters
are not included." Hence multiple blank spaces are counted as characters, which
is something that happens a lot in your example.

The procedure you mentioned "The number of characters is the number of
characters without space plus the number of words minus 1" is not the procedure
used by LibreOffice.

Hi Justin, thanks for reporting this issue.

These brackets you are seeing are not printable characters. They're actually
markings that show that this is the target of a bookmark.

To check this in the sample file you provided, open the Navigator (press F5)
and go to the Bookmarks section. Now double-click the bookmark and you'll see
that the section enclosed with brackets will be selected.

See attached image for more details.

To hide these markings, you can simply disable the option in View - Field

Can you confirm that this fix your issue?

I can confirm this bug in LO 7.3.3 and LO 7.4.

Setting the first numbered list to "Restart Numbering" is not saved to the file
when done using the context menu. This issue only happens with the first
numbered list in the document. Changing this option in all subsequent lists
works fine.

The workaround described by Olivier that uses the "Paragraph" dialog does work
and "Restart Numbering" is saved to the file. This should also be the case
using the context menu, so I'm setting this to NEW.

I have already experienced this bug in the past, but it's very rare. I also
could not produce steps that always cause the bug. This is why I've never
reported it.

Today I did a lot of testing with the Animations sidebar using Impress 7.4 but
could not reproduce this bug.

Can you provide a series of steps that are certain to cause this issue?

I'm working on a presentation. After switching back and forth a bit between
slides, and with the sidebar open (for animations I think), I click the
top-right x button, which should close the sidebar. But - while it disappears,
white empty placeholder space somehow remains.

Pressing the sidebar choice buttons and pressing x again did not help. Neither
does resizing, changing the zoom level, or switching from Normal to another
view.

Traditional styles like Attachment 180443 will not require the implementation

do.

Do we have to take the risk of implementing a feature that we don't know if it

 CC||rafael.palma.l...@gmail.com

Hi Heiko, I'm all for maintaining consistency and I think that it's a good
thing if empty entries are shown in the ToC, so the user will know that action
is needed to remove them (i.e. apply the correct style to remove these empty
entries from the ToC). This is also in line with what Bug 149230 is trying to
build.

My only concern is with how DOCX files will be imported. Since the ToC will
have been crated by MS Word, the ToC entries must remain as they were created
by MS Word. Hence empty entries that were ignored by Word while creating the
ToC must not be added during import.

My suggestion is that this feature you're proposing be applied only for ToC
created by LO Writer.

I was adding some images by copy-paste.
There is already several images over the document.
It worked well for the full day, until crash when I moved a few centimeters an
image i just pasted in the document.

The recovery of the document shows that it has been well "registered" (it is
still here when I open the "restored file from crash")

And to finish, i am in 7.3.2.2 but it's the "latest version" in the help menu,
because when I request update, dialog says that "LO 7.3 is up to date".

Hope it helps.

I also don't understand.
No one needs extra switching operations in a layout based on traditional
styles.
No one.
I don't understand why you want to increase the step of operation so much.

However, as mentioned above, the Comment 23 proposal seems relatively better
than the one implemented in 7.4 currently and may help many users, in my
opinion.
It doesn't seem perfect to me at all, but it might be better to adopt it than
to keep implementing the current one.

Apologies for slow response. I am not receiving an emails when bug records are
updated.

If I run in Safe Mode the missing file close icon re-appears.

However, after renaming my LibreOffice/4/user folder and restarting LO to
create a new profile the file close icon is once again missing. This leaves me
somewhat confused if the upgrade has corrupted my user profile or not. Not sure
what to do now.

In the meantime I have reverted to my old user folder because I have installed
an extension to get the Tango icon theme, which was removed in Rel 6.1.

When I am saving a file I am very often deleting files from the saving dialog.
If I delete a file like this and then I want to save my file in same name, then
the LO ask me, if I want to rewrite the deleted file.

Reproduction steps:
1) make writer file "Untitled1.odt"
2) Open writer
3) ctrl+shift+s
4) delete file "Untitled1.odt"
5) write to name of file same name, so "Untitled1.odt"
6) save it.

It works also with other files also in calc for example.

Actual result:
Dialog ask me, when I wont overwrite the file "Untitled1.odt"

Expected result:
Ask only when the file is still exist.

Chapter file showing trouble with restart numbering in context menu.

The "Restart numbering" of a numbered list does not restart if restart is set
by context menu.

Step to reproduce:
1) open the attached file
2) Go to page 6. The numbered list below start at number 1 (first list in file)
3) place cursor in first paragraph of the numbered list
4) Context menu -> Lists -> Restart numbering (list still display "1", which is
OK)
5) Save file, open file again, go to page 6 inspect restart numbering in
context menu

Expected result: Restart numbering is set

Actual results: checkbox is unchecked. The setting was not saved.

Workaround:
Open Format -> Paragraph -> Outline and lists. Mark "restart numbering at this
paragraph".

Setting is preserved between save/load cycle.

Note: This annoyance affect numbering when the chapter is inserted in a master

fine. But if, after the entire content is visible, I press the left arrow
button, i.e. move one step back - not only does the last paragraph disappear,
but also the first, unbulleted, paragraph.

Can't upload the entire document at the moment, may be able to whittle it down
later on.

I've seen this in earlier versions as well, possibly before v7.

DOC is 78 pages in MSO and more in LO. DOCX is also slow to open but 89 pages.

7.4 112,53s user 0,42s system 97% cpu 1:55,71 total opens 142 pages
7.0 122,31s user 0,77s system 89% cpu 2:18,12 total opens 141 pages

Both time and pages must be tracked.
This is in my bibisect plan.

Bibisect result:

d0a63755340fa2b474636750cd03e6eaf0f0039d is the first bad commit
commit d0a63755340fa2b474636750cd03e6eaf0f0039d
Author: Norbert Thiebaud
Date: Thu Oct 4 04:50:51 2018 -0700

source sha:7ceebc68604e9eebc05155b2233bbadf3f4f056a

Adding Miklos Vajna to CC list.

But it means, that first bad commit was in version:
Version: 6.1.3.0.0+
Build ID: 7ceebc68604e9eebc05155b2233bbadf3f4f056a
CPU threads: 8; OS: Windows 10.0; UI render: GL;
Locale: cs-CZ (cs_CZ); Calc: CL

And not between 7.2 and 7.3. So I hope, that the bibisecting went good...

I stand corrected; I must check instead of relying on flaky memory.
I still consider it bad, and I am sad to see this in ToC; but my position is
not strong anymore, and if others consider it worthy, please open it again.

At least Debian has got a system-wide numbertext installation, maybe macOS has
got the same. TDF's packages install them under
/opt/libreoffice*/share/numbertext.
