Thank you for your feedback.
Since, you can't reproduce the crash after the last one you quoted, I update to
RESOLVED/WORKSFORME.

Now, if with this 3.5 version (which one precisely ?), you can recreate this
buggy behaviour on a brand new LO file, don't hesitate to reopen this case.

Thanks for attachment
Reproduced in 3.3.4 and 3.5.3 on Fedora 64 bit
Steps to reproduce:
0. Open attachment
1. Enable Stylist pane
Expected: All styles are with current UI language
Actually: One half is on German, other half on English
2. Modify some German named style, for example Datenpilot Titel, change cell
background
3. Right click somewhere in the DataPilot and choose "Refresh" from the context
menu.
Expected: DataPilot formatting remains unchanged, no additional styles appear
Actually: DataPilot formatting lost, some additional styles appear

Changing version to 3.3.4 as most early reproducible

All right. Just updated my ubuntu vm to 12.04, which has libreoffice 3.5
installed and it crashed again. Then I reopened the document, turned off
recording of changes - and there were a lot of changes recorded, which might be
part of the problem - saved the document without crash, reopened it, turned
recording back on, made changes and could save without crash.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 50031] New: The field for equation AutoText is named just "Text"

2012-05-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=50031

 Bug #: 50031
Summary: The field for equation AutoText is named just "Text"
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: Other
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
  Severity: trivial
  Priority: medium
 Component: Writer
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: syockit+frd...@gmail.com

For writing student lab reports, I make heavy usage of AutoText for "fn" (i.e.
type "fn" and press F3). It creates a single row table of two columns, where
the equation is on the left and the equation number is on the right.

The minor problem is that when I want to insert a cross-reference to the
number, I at first couldn't find the name of the field, as most of the names
seem to suggest something else. After checking the name of the field used in
the equation (right click on number->select "Fields.."), I found out that the
field name is "Text", which is not descriptive.

I hope in future versions, the field created is named "Equation" instead.

There might be problems with compatibility with old documents though.

When pasting a bitmap from other program (in my case SPSS) into Text
Document/Writer it won't push current text further down to create space but
instead covers the current text. This creates problems because you never know
whether you may have covered text or not. A pasted bitmap can also cover other
bitmaps already in the text document

- we can't reproduce the case with a step by step process
- you finally solved your problem

Moreover you may do the following steps :
- uninstall LO
- delete (or backup) LO profile
- run a registry cleaning tool (ccleaner for example is a free soft)
- install LO 3.5.3

Feel free to reopen this case if you reproduce the problem.

With the most updated master sources and a brand new LO profile, could you try
to retrieve an useful backtrace by following this great video ?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fppBTs215yc
It could really help a lot the devs.

On pc Debian x86-64, with branch 3.5 updated yesterday (and a new LO profile),
I can't reproduce this bug.
I tried the test kit, resized the object, deleted it and inserted again (wtv
wasn't known so I had to select "all files").
Perhaps I missed something.

Rainer: just for the update, do you still reproduce this on 3.5.3 ?

You can find your dictionaries in the options-tab. But how do I find which one
is used in the language you are checking. If you want to find the correct
dictionary to backup then you need to find them.
But the spel-dialog isn't the correct way to find it. So this is indeed the
better option. Have you already pushed it to the master?

LibreOffice Base 3.5.3.2 error with Java and creating, viewing tables

First installed latest Java from Oracle website, (jre-7u4-windows-i586.exe).
Then installed LibreOffice 3.5.3.2. In LibreOffice, I explicitly selected the
installed Java version:
  Tools > Options > LibreOffice > Java
Use a Java environment is checked
  Oracle Corporation Java 1.7.0_04 selected

When clicking on the Table icon on the left side, I get the following error:

LibreOffice requires a Java runtime environment (JRE) to perform this task. The
selected JRE is defective. Please select another version or install a new JRE
and select it under Tools - Options - LibreOffice - Java.

The next error dialog that appears says:

The connection to the data source "New Database" could not be estabilished. No
Java installation could be found. Please check your installation.

I checked through LibreOffice, bugzilla, and other forums for the issue. I
found a couple of threads where users didn't have a problem or resolved the
problem with Java 1.7. I tried but to no avail. Java 6 does seem to work as
some suggested to revert to. Per LibreOffice website, I thought LibreOffice now
supports Java 1.7? Is this a bug? I get this error on a Windows platform
installed on a VirtualBox virtual disk. Memory allocated: 1280 MB, 31 GB
virtual drive with 12 GB to spare. Laptop is Dell Latitude D630.

Thanks, Karl d.

I doubt that the compatibility test results have to do with that problem.

It appears as if nearest neighbour filtering is used to scale images inside of
Image Controls with Scale..."Keep Ratio". This is visually unappealing. Given
that higher quality scaling algorithms are available elsewhere in LO (such as
those used by Writer and Impress for resizing pictures) it should be possible
to apply them here.

To reproduce: create an Image Control inside of a form. Populate the control
with an image that is either larger/smaller than the control itself. Ones with
line art/text work best. Observe the scaling is different to if the same image
is inserted into a writer document and scaled to an equivalent size.

After creating a test flowchart document and exporting it as SVG, upon
inspection of the SVG file in text editor showed the word 'Hello' and 'World'
to be stored as 'H', 'e', etc. as individual entries (with the respective SVG
syntax).

Steps to reproduce:
1. Launch LibreOffice Draw
2. From the Flowcharts drop down list choose Alternative Process, the (second
from the top left, its prettier).
3. Draw two boxes (copy/paste the first one to make it easier)
4. Label/Type "Hello" in box 1 and "World" in box 2
5. Use connector tool to link box 1 and two (set Arrow style to Arrow Head, use
right hand side)
6. Export as SVG
7. Open in text editor and notice how Hello and World are now individually
spelt, H, e, l, l, o
8. Open SVG file in Inkscape and Export as PDF, then when the dialogue appears
enable "PDF+LaTeX: Omit text in PDF, and create LaTeX file
9. Examine generated .pdf_tex and similiar to 7.
10. Open SVG file, find text, replace individual letters as with something like
this:
>Hello>
(repeat for W, o, r, l, d and save)
11. Open SVG in Inkscape once again and export as PDF (with "PDF+LaTeX"
enabled)
12. Examine updated/new .pdf_tex file and notice that it is corrected.
13. Open TexMaker (or another Latex Editor)
14. Generate or edit an existing Latex document by adding
\def\svgwidth{\textwidth}
\input{}
15. Replace with actual filename
16. Repeat for the other pdf_tex file to allow comparison
17. Build and observe. This will be made more clear if text size in Latex is
changed.

(Please do not respond - temporary email address used, expires with 1 hour of
first use)

Current behavior:
Separates words into their individual letters when not required.
Which once processed via Inkscape (pdf+Latex) and then inserted into Latex
document shows up to be not pleasing on the eye.
Thus requires manual intervention once the SVG file has been generated.

Expected behavior:
To capture entire lines/blocks of text in whole chunks when exporting to SVG.
(May also affect Windows Meta File or Enhanced Meta File export as well). May
also help when importing SVG files for editing text in LibreOffice Draw,
Inkscape or other editors.

Sorry for the additional steps but they are

Thank you,

Good idea, but I don't think I'll have time to implement it in the next few
weeks. It should be hard, we could insert a Windows-only code somewhere at
startup, that pops up a dialog, like e.g. Firefox does when it is not the
default browser.

i don't know if this is relevant to existing soffice.bin prob, but it may be
connected

I have found a fault in VLC (acknowledged by Videolan) that defaults to
assigning .bin extensions to VLC in the latest release installation

Effect is that soffice.bin does not seem to work ( typically scalc,
soffice.bin and soffice.com are loaded in memory but no spreadsheet appears -
deleting in task manager may not work , and system reload may be required)

I deinstalled VLC , reinstalled (and unselected assign of .bin) but still does
not work

Have deinstalled VLC, reinstalled LO 3.5, but problem continues , even when
selecting LO system)

Have now run CCleaner to clear Registry, whch has removed series of unused file
extensions and can now load LibreOffice system

However when try to load existing ssheet which has large no of sheets, it fails
to complete the load - help

Confirmed. Same error in OOo 3.1, LibO 3.3.4, LibO 3.4.5, and LibO 3.5.3. LibO
freezes for several minutes, the output is incorrect (tables are broken).
Tested under Windows XP and Vista 64.

LOdev 3.6 (master - 14-May-2012 02h55 x86@6-fast; Build ID: 347e345): much
better: tables seem OK, but header and footer are incorrect. File opens
instantly.

So, I confirm for LibO 3.5.3, but this issue (opening speed) is solved in LibO
3.6.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49998] New: libreoffice base A connection for the following URL was requested "sdbc:address:thunderbird"

2012-05-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49998

 Bug #: 49998
Summary: libreoffice base A connection for the following URL
was requested "sdbc:address:thunderbird"
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: critical
  Priority: medium
 Component: Database
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: ubuntup...@gmail.com

Libreoffice appears to have been compiled without support for SBDC database or
vice versa. There should be some way of browsing to the "url" This severely
blocks functionality in terms of output of data to thunderbird addressbook.

Hi

There are a few active maintainers: Eliane Domingos, Gustavo Pacheco, Vitorio
Furusho and me, as well as some logins that are not active anymore...

Of course I can do it, but I think it would be interesting let João be a
maintainer as well...

@João: Do you agree to become a maintainer?

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 49997] New: EDITING: Paste menu options not available in Calc when pasting to multiple rows

2012-05-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=49997

 Bug #: 49997
Summary: EDITING: Paste menu options not available in Calc when
pasting to multiple rows
Classification: Unclassified
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: LibO 3.5.3 release
  Platform: x86 (IA32)
OS/Version: Windows (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Spreadsheet
AssignedTo: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
ReportedBy: dmaug...@gmail.com

If you copy cells on a single row, but then want to paste them into multiple
rows, the menu options for pasting both in the edit menu and in the context
menu disappear unless either a single cell is selected or a range equal in
width to the copied are is selected. The menu options should be available if a
single column of cells is selected. Note that the keyboard shortcut (Ctrl+V)
still works in this scenario.

E.g. create a new sheet
Put data in cells A1,B1,C1,D1,E1
Highlight and copy this data
Select cells A3:A6
There are no menu options for pasting (although Ctrl+V works)
The menu options are available if only one cell is selected, or if the area
A3:E6 is selected.

Note that this is also true when copying a column of data to be pasted into
multiple columns.

It is obvious, because Data Sources is database functionality. It is not a bug

PS: Base usually installs by default. It is not problem. But some distros have
no Base by default. For example Fedora.

We'd really appreciate working on this BIG problem.

Some commercial fonts are in otf-format available only. Our new standard-CD
font Interstate is one example for that. We suddenly realized, that we aren't
able to work with OO/LibreOffice, because OTF-Kerning-support is missing.

What should we do?

Change our CD and our standard-font (after one year working on it)?

No, we won't. The better (and easier) way would be: Change our writer software.
So -- back to MS word? I'd dislike that. But what should I do?

So: OTF is the most modern standard font file format. Missing OTF-support is a
real missing feature for OO/LibreOffice, makes it unusable in professional
enviroments.
