[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83225] New: FILESAVE [DOCX] File can´t be reopened since LO doubles some attributs in DOCUMENT.XML

2014-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83225

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83225
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: FILESAVE [DOCX] File can´t be reopened since LO
doubles some attributs in DOCUMENT.XML
  Severity: major
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Windows (All)
  Reporter: a_...@web.de
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

I converted a PDF to a DOCX-file by using SolidConverter, which could be opened
by WRITER successfully inspite of some misformatting issues. (attachment:
GB_2013.docx)

After having edited the first page I saved the file and closed it. When I
reopened it, all I got was a blank page. MS Word Viewer stopped opening it with
an error message. (attachment: GB_2014_org.docx)

Reason: On saving the file WRITER doubled two attributes of the font Calibri in
File document.xml:

w:rFonts w:ascii=Calibri w:hAnsi=Calibri w:ascii=Calibri
w:hAnsi=Calibri/

Moreover the attribut val was doubled:

Attribute val bound to namespace
http://schemas.openxmlformats.org/wordprocessingml/2006/main; was already
specified for element w:color.

After having removed the doubled attributes, I could open the document.

I converted a PDF to a DOCX-file by using SolidConverter, which could be opened
by WRITER successfully inspite of some misformatting issues. (attachment:
GB_2013.docx)

I did not changed anything but saved the file under a different name (here:
GB_2013_b.docx), closed it and reopened the saved version.

A lot of the graphic elements of the front page went lost!
Well, in fact they are still available in word\media

Even worse, just by saving the file LO doubled most of the images, some of the
got even three addional copies. Why?
By consequence the filesize of GB_2013_b.docx has been doubled, too, in
comparition to the original GB_2013.docx.

(attachment: LO-4-3-0-4_doubles-media-entry.PNG)

Last but not least, why LO lists all media individually in content_types.xml
while in the original version there is just made a default setting:

GB_2013.DOCX:
Default ContentType=image/jpeg Extension=jpeg/
Default ContentType=image/png Extension=png/

Problem description:
Thumbnails show content of password protected files.

Steps to reproduce:
1. Open Libre Office (not a specific application)

Current behavior:
The large thumbnails of recent documents show the content of password protected
files. These are large enough to read.
This means anyone can see the content.
Correcting this bug will be locking the stable door after the horse has bolted
- even when you fix this bug anyone with an old version of LibreOffice will be
able to read part of any password protected office file

Expected behavior:
You should not be able to read any part of a password protected file without
entering the password.

We have the same Problem with LO 4.2.6.2 under Windows 7.

If I use the variable %origin% (%origin/template/xxx/xxx.ott) in the setup.xcu
file it always popup the error messages on startup (Libreoffice Writer):

On press answer (Ja) or (Nein) the next message is:
Die Datei 'XXX.ott' konnte nicht repariert werden und kann deshalb nicht
geöffnet werden. (OK)
Press (OK)
Next popup: Allgemeiner Fehler

LO doesn't start!

We have tried another path in setup.xcu with variable $(inst)
$(inst)/share/template/xxx/XXX.ott and copy the file manually to the install
path and now it works without error message!
LO starts!

My setup

I don't agree with kicking out some icons, since I use them regularry, but if
most of people don't use it, I'll just have to re-add them into toolbars.
Tried using sidebar, but to many things missing. It's just unfinished product.

Attached you can find my current setup.
In Calc I added Save As, (OM) = WRAP , verital aligment and number formating
0.0 (thousand separator and 2 decimal places, not sure why this isn't on by
default since it's probably one of most used buttons in calc for me). Increased
button size and placed it all in 1 row.

In Writer I just added Save As and kicked out buttons I know I will never or
very rarely use.

That's simply not true. Thumbnails can be generated only after a file is open,

planned.

Default Extension=rels
ContentType=application/vnd.openxmlformats-package.relationships+xml /

I guess adding this tag shouldn't be a big deal. Is there anyone, who can do
that?

I have just uninstall previous LibreOffice, restart computer and install the
new office, LibreOffice 4.3.1 on two computers and I noticed that on one
computer I do not get as much colors for background as on the other computer
(please see the attached pictures). I guess that some settings from some
previous installation stayed somewhere on the computer, from the installation
that had less colors. Before I installed new version I checked and remove
folders for LibreOffice after restarting in installation folders (C:\Program
Files (x86)).

--- Comment #14 from Lionel Elie Mamane lio...@mamane.lu ---
The text control takes the format to use from the table's field. In your case,
the columns (fields) that display 0 have (under the hood) a numeric format.
Since they contain e.g. person 5 which does not parse to a number, it is
replaced by 0. How you go to this situation, I'm not sure.

Here is how to fix it:
 * edit the table
 * select an affected field (e.g. IME)
 * change the format:
- click on the ... next to format example
  (which, you'll notice, says 0)
- since you have only one choice (text),
a convenient way to change it is to change the language.
- Click OK
 * save the table

Your problem is fixed.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 81475] Meta: enhancing Writer's standard and formatting toolbars

2014-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=81475

--- Comment #19 from Jay Philips philip...@hotmail.com ---
Hi Mikeyy,

(In reply to comment #18)
I don't agree with kicking out some icons, since I use them regularry, but
if most of people don't use it, I'll just have to re-add them into toolbars.
Tried using sidebar, but to many things missing. It's just unfinished
 product.

Yes the proposal is to make the toolbar more usable to most people's needs, but
still make it easy for users to re-enable the removed/hidden icons.

In Writer I just added Save As and kicked out buttons I know I will never or
 very rarely use.

Thanks for your screenshot, as it shows that you do customize it with many of
the proposal suggestions - adding save as and comment, as well as removing
styles, data sources, navigator, help, copy, cut, and paste.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83242] New: UI: Inform User during Installation, that LibreOffice is Accessible for Users with Impairments/Disabilities

2014-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83242

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83242
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: UI: Inform User during Installation, that LibreOffice
is Accessible for Users with Impairments/Disabilities
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: All
  Reporter: harald.koes...@mail.de
  Hardware: Other
Whiteboard: BSA
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
 Component: Installation
   Product: LibreOffice

Problem description:

Since Version 4.3.0 the option Support assistive technology tools during
installation (only Windows) is no longer necessary (see bug 80332). A user told
me, that he came to know about the accessibility functions of LO only by chance
because of this installation option.

Hence to my opinion generally it should be more pointed out, that LibreOffice
comprehends several functions in order to support users with
Impairments/Disabilities.

Solution:

That means for the installation process that there should be again a hint
according the accessibility functions. For Windows I propose to integrate this
hint into the installation dialogue during the genuine installation process,
anyway the user has to wait at this point. This hint could be improved, if it
is highlighted a bit and if a link to the accessibility page of the LibreOffice
website is integrated into the hint.

For Linux and Mac OS there should be similar hints during the installation. I'm
not familiar with Linux and Mac OS, hence I don't know how to integrate this
hint into the installation process.

I have made the exception to number ranges, and I will extend the help, too.
Thanks for your suggestions!

For German and other problems (eg. missing replacement of em dash before/after
punctuation marks and at starting position), it would be better to add a new
alternative autocorrect option 'Replace -- to en-dash, --- to em-dash', like in
Wordpress.

What values do you have in Z12, AG12 and AH23? They are required to really test
your situation. Even better if you can attach the document you're having
problems with.

Also, no need to be so dramatic. All software has bugs.

The color palette is not in the installation folder but in the user folder.
If you take over your settings when upgrading, the old color palette is kept
too. But it is easy to correct the problem, find instructions in third item of
Known issues on http://ooo-site.apache.org/development/releases/4.0.0.html

You might have old arrows for line ends too, please check. You can see them in
the drop-down list in Draw. The associated file name is standard.soe.

Nevertheless I confirm this as enhancement, because the first start wizard
should ask/help users to get such changes.

Humm - I can expect great features such as LibreOffice's from a free product,
but not a great interface? What's the reason for a free product to deliver
great features by not great interface?

Conversely,
google docs is free: great interface
evernote free is free: great interface
sunrise calendar is free: great interface
etc.
etc.
etc.

LibreOffice takes pride in ugliness, it does not need to. There's no shame is
having a great interface - it facilitates adoption.

Open xls file.
Sort columns A and B together.
Libreoffice crashes and starts recovery process.

Windows 7 x64
Libreoffice 4.3.1.1
Reproduced in 4.3.1.1 build c4b15cd4d00dec6b266fa830b4ba73e31ae6ce73
Reproduced in 4.3.1.2 build 958349dc3b25111dbca392fbc281a05559ef6848

This is a small subset from larger sheet.
Sorted correctly in all Libreoffice 4.2.5 and earlier versions.

I can highlight and sort the bottom 22 rows together and it is fine, as soon as
I sort the bottom 23 rows or more it crashes.

If I do a save as on the sheet as .ods, close Libreoffice, reopen the sheet. It
will sort without crashing. Then I can save as that .ods file back to .xls,
close and reopen the new sheet and it will sort without crashing.

I can copy and paste the two columns from the attached sheet into a brand new
sheet and save an .xls, close and reopen that new sheet and it will crash on
sorting.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83250] New: PRINTING / FORMATTING: Booklet Printing doesn't honor paper size.

2014-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon

  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Mac OS X (All)
  Reporter: jeff...@mikels.cc
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
 Component: Writer
   Product: LibreOffice

I frequently want to print booklets, and the booklet printing feature of
OpenOffice was always one of my favorites from years ago; however, it has never
worked correctly on my Mac, and I've been waiting for it to get fixed. Here is
the problem and how you can reproduce it (sizes below are in inches):

Set up your printer with 8.5x11 (US Letter) paper.

Set up a document with a page format of 5.5x8.5 (US Statement).

Put enough text in the document to make sure there are at least a couple of
pages in the document.

Open the print dialog and select brochure mode.

After selecting brochure mode, the paper size gets changed to Legal and this
can be verified by either printing or selecting Open PDF in Preview.

EXPECTED BEHAVIOR
Since 5.5x8.5 is exactly half the size of 8.5x11, selecting brochure mode
should print two-up on 8.5x11. I assume that some internal calculation is
attempting to account for margins and determines that 8.5x11 is too small to
contain the original pages, but this should not be. The end user should be
responsible for using sane margins with respect to the capabilities of the
printer, and the application should simply print 2-up.

great features and interface without [...] a charge or payment.

There's a difference between free and not for profit. Besides, a good part
of the financial support to LibreOffice's free product comes from Google's
profits...

None of this explains why LibreOffice resists the idea of a great interface.
LibreOffice can't be a significant alternative to the for-profit products and

The text control takes the format to use from the table's field. In your
case, the columns (fields) that display 0 have (under the hood) a numeric
format. Since they contain e.g. person 5 which does not parse to a number,
it is replaced by 0. How you go to this situation, I'm not sure.

The '0' appears not only in this bug. It's a problem, which could be found
often in mailinglists, forum and other. Nobody knows where the '0' comes from.
It hasn't been set by the user.

And this is the problem and the bug: Everybody, who had this problem, doesn't
know where it came from.

Why should such a bug-description be invalid?

I will reopen this bug.

thanks for your bug report but keep in mind that the 4.1.0.4 release you are
using is obsolete.

you are strongly encouraged to upgrade to current LibO 4.2.6.2 release which is
the stable version.

I think that thousands of bugs have been fixed during the 4.1.0 -- 4.2.6
development.

I set status to NEEDINFO.

change it to RESOLVED WORKSFORME if issue is gone after upgrade or revert
status to UNCONFIRMED if problem persists.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 83253] New: EDITING: Inserting animated gifs does not work correctly / consistently

2014-08-29 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=83253

  Priority: medium
Bug ID: 83253
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
Summary: EDITING: Inserting animated gifs does not work
correctly / consistently
  Severity: normal
Classification: Unclassified
OS: Linux (All)
  Reporter: code3rea...@gmail.com
  Hardware: Other
Status: UNCONFIRMED
   Version: 4.3.0.4 release
 Component: Presentation
   Product: LibreOffice

I am experiencing a number of problems when I insert animated gifs into a slide
in a presentation.

First, overall performance starts to slow down quickly, and at times adding
another animated gif, or sometimes just changing to a new slide (by clicking on
one in the slide pane) will freeze my entire system for several seconds,
sometimes 10s of seconds, including the mouse.

Also, the image is usually inserted correctly (see screenshot 1), but often
(not always; it is intermittent) if I move to another slide, then back to the
slide with the inserted animated gif, it is no longer displayed and instead I
see an empty frame with a small icon and three periods at the top (see
screenshot 2). When this happens, the image is also not displayed during
slideshows, which means that showing animated gifs is completely broken for me,
because I cannot rely on them being shown correctly.

These two issues seem to be related. If I have an animated gif showing
correctly, and I then add another to another slide, and there is no long freeze
to add the image, then the first image will still be displayed OK. But if I add
the second image (or change slides) and experience the several-second freeze, I
know that when I go back to the first slide, it sill not be displayed
correctly. In the second screenshot, I had to add several new gifs to get this
behavior to happen. You can see in screenshot 1 that I have images on 4 slides.
In screenshot 2, I added an image to slide 5, no problem, then 6, no problem,
then for slide 7, my system hung for about 8 seconds before adding that image.
Then, all of the 6 previous images showed a blank frame like in screenshot 2.

One thing I notice is that in Powerpoint, animated gifs are shown as static
images in the editor, and are only animated during the slide show. This may
help with the performance issues I am experiencing.

In addition to the screenshots, I have attached several animated gifs for
testing, along with the presentation file in the screenshots.

Hi Jonatha..

In addition to Tommy's question, you could also try disabling PDF as Standard
Print Job Format in Tools Options Print
From my experience, enabling that generates some issues. IMO using postscript,
by disabling that option, is more reliable.
