[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 96344] Count of selected and copied items is inconsistent if there are hidden rows /columns
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96344 Aron Budea changed: What|Removed |Added Priority|medium |low Status|UNCONFIRMED |NEW Version|4.3.3.2 release |4.3.0.4 release Keywords||implementationError CC||ba...@caesar.elte.hu Ever confirmed|0 |1 Summary|FILTER - Bad count of items |Count of selected and |in status bar and DCOUNT|copied items is |counting items in list |inconsistent if there are ||hidden rows/columns Severity|normal |trivial OS|Linux (All) |All --- Comment #9 from Aron Budea --- I also think this is an inconsistency, but not sure how it could be resolved to always be straightforward. Normally selecting a range includes all elements in the range (so row 554-604 is indeed 51 rows). And logically they're still selected, even if some of the rows are hidden (that's why if you select these rows, then right click the hidden part and click Show Rows, the additional rows will be included in the selection). Why they aren't copied... probably because of practical reasons. An alternative way of selection is holding Ctrl and clicking individual fields, in this case if the selection is not continuous, the text in the status bar disappears. Note: if fields around the hidden rows are selected this way, right click + Show Rows doesn't work anymore, this might be a bug. Alternative 1: Text in status bar should reflect the number of currently selected and visible (eg. copied) rows and columns, and should update if rows/columns are hidden or shown. Alternative 2: Text in status bar should reflect the number of currently selected and visible (eg. copied) rows and columns, and the selection should not change if rows/column are hidden or shown. Alternative 3: Text in status bar should reflect the number of currently selected rows and columns, but the hidden rows/columns should be added in parentheses. For example: "51 rows (31 hidden), 1 columns selected" There could be further ideas, these are the ones that came to my mind. Based on the above, setting status to NEW, and since it has minimal effect on professional work, adjusting importance to low/trivial. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Windows is able to use hard links! (through only by using the > command line) Just a clarification. Vista+ has symlinks on NTFS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbolic_link NT4+ has hardlinks on NTFS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_link They are different beasts. And removing existing functionality from symlinks (while retaining for hardlinks) would limit the scenarios that Eike mentioned, by only the same filesystem. In IRC, I suggested that a top yellow banner could help, that would say something like this: "This file was opened with symlink from a different directory, so its relative links currently may work differently. Click here to reopen it from original location. [Don't show this again] [Read more]". But this was supposed to be too intrusive an UI. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs
[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101405] Access file opens in Writer
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101405 Regina Henschel changed: What|Removed |Added Status|UNCONFIRMED |RESOLVED CC||rb.hensc...@t-online.de Resolution|--- |NOTABUG --- Comment #1 from Regina Henschel --- "Open" is never the correct action for any database file. Instead you need a front-end to a database engine, which can handle the file. If you are on Windows, such database engine might already been installed, if not, you can get it from Microsoft. LibreOffice has some wizards to create such a connection. Try them out. Start Base and use the option "Connect to an existing database". In the drop-down list you find several options which are possible for Access, depending on the version of Access and the desired kind of connection. Please use one of our support channel listed on http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/ to get help. Find further useful general information about Base in "Base Handbook 4.0 (database)" from http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/. To get access to the informations in your Access database file, you can try the guide in https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Base/How_to_connect_to_a_Microsoft_Access_database, which is for older versions, but might still work for. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39558 V Stuart Foote changed: What|Removed |Added See Also||https://bugs.documentfounda ||tion.org/show_bug.cgi?id=10 ||1193 --- Comment #9 from V Stuart Foote --- Yes and you'll note that in bug 101193 we've made more of a mess by removing the Description and Name actions from the context menu. At 5.2 they can be added back by customizing the context menus. The title in the Description dialog becomes the Alt-text entry picked up by AT for images and other objects in documents, and should be included with HTML formatting. The description can be used by AT as alternative. And we make it more difficult missing a context menu entry for Name. The field from the Name dialog is picked up as Name for objects in Navigator. The Name and Description actions have been moved upward in the menu structure: on the Format menu in Writer, Impress. And on the Modify menu in Draw. But it remains on the Context Menu for objects inserted into a Calc sheet. So, if these remain "suppressed" in the UI--agree it becomes more valid to nag folks to fully attribute an image or object while being created. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39558 --- Comment #8 from Samuel Thibault --- Hello, Just to confirm the need for this: people will always be lazy and not set a title, if they don't have a very easy way to do so. Currently, setting a title for the image is really not convenient, I didn't find it in the contextual menu, and was about to think that it wasn't available at all and give up tagging my presentations... Actually, untitled pictures should have some sort of halo around them, to show that something is wrong, just like misspelled text are underlined in red. The halo could be blue for instance to represent accessibility. And then in the contextual menu, the very first item would allow to set the title for the image (or explicitly set an empty title, for pure decorations). The patch should fix three every-day use cases which work properly on MS Windows but fails on Linux: 1) Having LibreOffice documents on a Network-Share with relative hyperlinks. /home/user1/netshare/ /home/user2/netshare/... 2) Moving a folder with LO documents with relative hyperlinks to another folder: /home/user/folder1/... /home/user/folder2/subfolder/... 3) Zipping and sharing documents with relative links between users: /home/user1/... /home/user2/... Each of this use cases breaks when a user creates a desktop shortcut and open the documents via this shortcut. Not even the existing hyperlinks break, the user is also not able to create new hyperlinks. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

Export to PDF using the Hybrid PDF check box. The exported PDF are readable as PDF in Reader or Acrobat, etc. But attempting to reopen the Hybrid PDF with LibreOffice it errors: General Error. General input/output error. Returning the "Always Save As" to "ODF Text Document" again exports Hybrid PDF that are readable with out issue. So the question here is if our handling of Hybrid PDF -- creation or extracting -- should support other formats than ODF zipped archives? And if only ODF zip archives, the PDF export filter should not allow the not-ODF zip archive format to be embedded. You are opening files on a Windows share hosted on a Win 7 machine from the Linux machine (LM17.3). You are using a PPA version for this, and not the TDF official download - there might be some slight differences here, so worth experimenting if you can with a parallel installation of an official TDF latest production release of LO (see the LibreOffice wiki for how to install in parallel) and test whether the problem is also present in that version. You are correct in noting that previous reports of similar problems have been noted here in bugzilla. Have you had any updates to the Win7 machine recently ? There is/was a known issue with some versions of Windows (Win8/Win10 ?) that prevented CIFS/SMB fileshares from playing nicely when shared across a LAN with Linux machines running LO. This was linked to file locking on the Windows host. As a first step, could you try it with a TDF official download version of LO on the LM17.3 machine to see if that solves the problem, in which case we can point the finger at the PPA version ? Setting to NEEDINFO, please change back to UNCONFIRMED once you have reported your findings. -- You are receiving this mail because: You are the assignee for the bug.___ Libreoffice-bugs mailing list Libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice-bugs

https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100137 --- Comment #14 from Eike Rathke --- I'm quite convinced this can be addressed only properly if the parent document is opened following the symlink on user demand, either through an option or after having determined that it was opened using a symlink and there are relative external links in the document, and then reloading the doc after having asked the user.
