It consists of two parts. First is to identify all the problems (and suggest

I "restarted" using the tool yesterday.
Till today all was okay.
I even used it in python scripts.
Suddenly today it started crashing.
First xray (with a small x) was not recognized as function.
I used Xray and it worked once.
After that even the caller function was not recognized as function.
(I mean the function A which was calling function B that has a line with xray)
Restarted the computer. Reinstalled xray. Same problem.

PS. I do not know know if this has some importance but yesterday I "saved"
"Panel Xray with current dimensions" and also changed fonts.
After that it worked as expected (till today, about one hour ago).

A similar problem is reported for Alt+A accelerator key in Tools menu.

I found the problem in Sheet menu Alt+R which is repeated for Insert Rows and
Rename sheet.

In general the accelerator keys should be unique so that they can be quickly
used from the keyboard without having to look at which function has been
executed.

Please check this issue in all menus and correct it.

Thanks very much for a wonderful product.

OK, I tried path #1, which was to download the old version. Unfortunately, the
installer for 4.3.3.2 ( the one it asks for) still crashes with the following
error:

"...\LibreOffice 4.3.3.2_win_x86.msi is not a valid installation package for
the product LibreOffice 4.3.3.2. Try to find the installation package
LibreOffice 4.3.3_Win_X86.msi in a folder from which you can install
LibreOffice 4.3.3.2."

Hmm. I didn't see an installer for 4.3.3, only 4.3.3.1 and so on. That
yields the same error. Ditto 4.0.1, 4.1.2, etc.

I did find an installer for 4.3.3 on another site, but its called
libreoffice-4-3-3-multi-win.msi, and it didn't work either.

And then I did something stupid: I tried renaming the
libreoffice-4-3-3-multi-win.msi file to LibreOffice 4.3.3_Win_X86.msi.

AND IT WORKED.

I have no idea how, and I have no idea if I'll get the same error at upgrade
time, but it looks like I'm good for now!

Thanks to all who pitched in.

Cheers-
Joe

   ||hidden rows/columns
   Severity|normal |trivial
 OS|Linux (All) |All

I also think this is an inconsistency, but not sure how it could be resolved to
always be straightforward.
Normally selecting a range includes all elements in the range (so row 554-604
is indeed 51 rows). And logically they're still selected, even if some of the
rows are hidden (that's why if you select these rows, then right click the
hidden part and click Show Rows, the additional rows will be included in the
selection). Why they aren't copied... probably because of practical reasons.

An alternative way of selection is holding Ctrl and clicking individual fields,
in this case if the selection is not continuous, the text in the status bar
disappears.
Note: if fields around the hidden rows are selected this way, right click +
Show Rows doesn't work anymore, this might be a bug.

Alternative 1:
Text in status bar should reflect the number of currently selected and visible
(eg. copied) rows and columns, and should update if rows/columns are hidden or
shown.

Alternative 2:
Text in status bar should reflect the number of currently selected and visible
(eg. copied) rows and columns, and the selection should not change if
rows/column are hidden or shown.

Alternative 3:
Text in status bar should reflect the number of currently selected rows and
columns, but the hidden rows/columns should be added in parentheses.
For example: "51 rows (31 hidden), 1 columns selected"

There could be further ideas, these are the ones that came to my mind.
Based on the above, setting status to NEW, and since it has minimal effect on
professional work, adjusting importance to low/trivial.

Just curious, are you still considering submitting your patch?

If you are, and require preliminary feedback, I'd suggest submitting your
suggestion to the list:
https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/libreoffice
(developers read that list, while there's a lower chance they'd stumble upon
this bug report)
Of course you can also just submit the changes to gerrit as described on the
wiki page Buovjaga linked, and definitely get feedback that way.

This sounds like a reasonable enhancement suggestion.

There are a few tricky parts to it, like what should happen with the drawing
afterwards (currently if the presenter draws on a slide with "Mouse pointer as
pen" turned on, the drawing remains on the slide afterwards offering the
possibility to save it along with the presentation).

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 101415] New: FILESAVE FILEOPEN CSV files linebreaks

2016-08-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101415

Bug ID: 101415
Summary: FILESAVE FILEOPEN CSV files linebreaks
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: unspecified
  Hardware: All
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc
  Assignee: libreoffice-bugs@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: andrsch...@web.de

The export to and the import from csv files works fine in Windows. Also when
text in cells contain a LF as an "internal linebreak", because Windows
recognizes CR/LF as end of line. But in Linux with only LF at the end of line
comes the problem. There is no difference to the "cell-internal-linebreak".
Such a spreadsheet is completely jumbled after re-importing.

I think it would be nice to have an option to configure the linebreaks both in
the export- and the import filter in future releases.

If already now there would be an option to configure this, I would be glad to
know where to find it. I didn't find yet...

I tried Calligra Sheets. It has the option in the export filter but not in
import so it's not an alternative.

Thanks a lot!

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 100137] Wrong Hyperlinks in Calc when opening the Calc document over a Symlink

2016-08-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=100137

(In reply to Dennis Roczek from comment #17)
> well either use / test shortcuts ("soft links") on both systems (linux and
> windows) or use / test it with symbolic links ("hard links") on both
> systems. Windows is able to use hard links! (through only by using the
> command line)

Just a clarification.
Vista+ has symlinks on NTFS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Symbolic_link
NT4+ has hardlinks on NTFS: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hard_link
They are different beasts. And removing existing functionality from symlinks
(while retaining for hardlinks) would limit the scenarios that Eike mentioned,
by only the same filesystem.

In IRC, I suggested that a top yellow banner could help, that would say
something like this: "This file was opened with symlink from a different
directory, so its relative links currently may work differently. Click here to
reopen it from original location. [Don't show this again] [Read more]". But
this was supposed to be too intrusive an UI.

"Open" is never the correct action for any database file. Instead you need a
front-end to a database engine, which can handle the file. If you are on
Windows, such database engine might already been installed, if not, you can get
it from Microsoft.
LibreOffice has some wizards to create such a connection. Try them out. Start
Base and use the option "Connect to an existing database". In the drop-down
list you find several options which are possible for Access, depending on the
version of Access and the desired kind of connection.

Please use one of our support channel listed on
http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/community-support/ to get help. Find
further useful general information about Base in "Base Handbook 4.0 (database)"
from http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/documentation/. To get access to the
informations in your Access database file, you can try the guide in
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Faq/Base/How_to_connect_to_a_Microsoft_Access_database,
which is for older versions, but might still work for.

The equations are not created with Microsoft Equation Editor but are OLE
objects of "MathType 5" a product of Design Science (www.dessci.com).

So LibreOffice leaves them as OLE object and shows the replacement graphics.
That has worked correctly for most equations in Version: 4.2.2.1
Build-ID: 3be8cda0bddd8e430d8cda1ebfd581265cca5a0f. Only few equation have some
errors in position.

It is partly broken (some images are correct, some are distort) in Version:
4.3.0.0.alpha1+
Build ID: 145f2e970f46a3a3e5456b122d71f17c3abe878f
TinderBox: Win-x86@42, Branch:master, Time: 2014-04-26_23:32:36

It is totally wrong in Version: 4.4.0.3
Build-ID: de093506bcdc5fafd9023ee680b8c60e3e0645d7
Gebietsschema: de_DE

It makes no difference, whether in Options > Load/Save > Microsoft Office the
converting options are checked or not.

Because I run all versions on the same PC, and so the same fonts are available,
the reason cannot be a missing font.

Yes and you'll note that in bug 101193 we've made more of a mess by removing
the Description and Name actions from the context menu. At 5.2 they can be
added back by customizing the context menus.

The title in the Description dialog becomes the Alt-text entry picked up by AT
for images and other objects in documents, and should be included with HTML
formatting. The description can be used by AT as alternative.

And we make it more difficult missing a context menu entry for Name. The field
from the Name dialog is picked up as Name for objects in Navigator.

The Name and Description actions have been moved upward in the menu structure:
on the Format menu in Writer, Impress. And on the Modify menu in Draw. But it
remains on the Context Menu for objects inserted into a Calc sheet.

So, if these remain "suppressed" in the UI--agree it becomes more valid to nag
folks to fully attribute an image or object while being created.

[Libreoffice-bugs] [Bug 39558] ACCESSIBILITY: always prompt for text alternative when inserting picture to create accessible documents by default

2016-08-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=39558

Hello,

Just to confirm the need for this: people will always be lazy and not set a
title, if they don't have a very easy way to do so. Currently, setting a title
for the image is really not convenient, I didn't find it in the contextual
menu, and was about to think that it wasn't available at all and give up
tagging my presentations...

Actually, untitled pictures should have some sort of halo around them, to show
that something is wrong, just like misspelled text are underlined in red. The
halo could be blue for instance to represent accessibility. And then in the
contextual menu, the very first item would allow to set the title for the image
(or explicitly set an empty title, for pure decorations).

Samuel

well either use / test shortcuts ("soft links") on both systems (linux and

> So, to summarize, for me this is not a bug and I don't want it "fixed".

The patch should fix three every-day use cases which work properly on MS
Windows but fails on Linux:

1) Having LibreOffice documents on a Network-Share with relative hyperlinks.
/home/user1/netshare/
/home/user2/netshare/...

2) Moving a folder with LO documents with relative hyperlinks to another
folder:
/home/user/folder1/...
/home/user/folder2/subfolder/...

3) Zipping and sharing documents with relative links between users:
/home/user1/...
/home/user2/...

Each of this use cases breaks when a user creates a desktop shortcut and open
the documents via this shortcut. Not even the existing hyperlinks break, the
user is also not able to create new hyperlinks.

Locale: en-US (en_US)

Set the Tools -> Options -> Load Save -> General: "Always Save As" drop down to
"Open Office XML Text", or even to "Flat XML ODF Text Document"--seemingly
anything other than "ODF Text Document".

Export to PDF using the Hybrid PDF check box.

The exported PDF are readable as PDF in Reader or Acrobat, etc.

But attempting to reopen the Hybrid PDF with LibreOffice it errors:

General Error.
General input/output error.

Returning the "Always Save As" to "ODF Text Document" again exports Hybrid PDF
that are readable with out issue.

So the question here is if our handling of Hybrid PDF -- creation or extracting
-- should support other formats than ODF zipped archives?

And if only ODF zip archives, the PDF export filter should not allow the
not-ODF zip archive format to be embedded. Or if allowed, the import filter
will need to be adjusted.

LKeithJordan : thank you for your explanation, which was very clear.

You are opening files on a Windows share hosted on a Win 7 machine from the
Linux machine (LM17.3).

You are using a PPA version for this, and not the TDF official download - there
might be some slight differences here, so worth experimenting if you can with a
parallel installation of an official TDF latest production release of LO (see
the LibreOffice wiki for how to install in parallel) and test whether the
problem is also present in that version.

You are correct in noting that previous reports of similar problems have been
noted here in bugzilla.

Have you had any updates to the Win7 machine recently ? There is/was a known
issue with some versions of Windows (Win8/Win10 ?) that prevented CIFS/SMB
fileshares from playing nicely when shared across a LAN with Linux machines
running LO. This was linked to file locking on the Windows host.

As a first step, could you try it with a TDF official download version of LO on
the LM17.3 machine to see if that solves the problem, in which case we can
point the finger at the PPA version ?

Setting to NEEDINFO, please change back to UNCONFIRMED once you have reported
your findings.

I'm quite convinced this can be addressed only properly if the parent document
is opened following the symlink on user demand, either through an option or
after having determined that it was opened using a symlink and there are
relative external links in the document, and then reloading the doc after
having asked the user. Everything else IMHO is a hack that will cause other

Closing this as WONTFIX.

A "double" file type extension is not very friendly to OS handling.

As noted in comment 16, if work on bug 95328 is eventually done, embedded ODF
documents will become visible "attachements" to our "Hybrd PDF" documents. That
is sufficient.

General input/output error.

Even if I remove the file-lock for the open pdf file, and attempt to save get
the same General input/output error. Unclear of the reason general input output
error, but suggests there are issues with file locking in opening the Hybrid to
extract the ODF. Maybe that needs to be a read only action in some sense.

=-note-=
The export/re-export save cycle is appropriate -- LibreOffice is not a PDF
editor, and the Hybrid PDF embedding an ODF document is only implemented in
LibreOffice (or OpenOffice with extension). Bug 95328 to implement a more
visible "attachement" to PDF would expose the ODF to more use cases.

A Save-as action has been rejected because the project "Exports" to PDF, no
reason to change that.

The attached screenshot shows the red triangle overlays. Although those are not
shown in the print preview, nor printed or exported to PDF.

Confirming on:
- Windows Vista, 32 bit:
Version: 5.2.0.4

BUT: Those aren't "checkboxes" (as in a form control). They are actually small
text boxes, also when opened in MS Word 2003 (with DOCX compatibility pack).

If the file is saved as a DOC file by Word 2003, the text boxes are ordered
correctly when the latter is opened in LO 5.2.0.4, but most have a red triangle
overlay.

2016-08-09 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.documentfoundation.org/show_bug.cgi?id=101414

Bug ID: 101414
Summary: UI: Window repaint much slower than in 5.1.4
   Product: LibreOffice
   Version: 5.1.5.2 release
  Hardware: x86-64 (AMD64)
OS: Linux (All)
Status: UNCONFIRMED
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Calc

Sheet with conditional formatting

Like all other versions before it, 5.1.4.2 had snappy window repaint.

Now, in 5.1.5.2, it takes up to two seconds for a sheet with conditional
formatting to repaint (much more noticeable when the window is stretched wide)
after Alt-tab. Without conditional formatting, it's still noticeable and
irksome.

When paging up or down in the sheet, the new rows used to pop right up, but now
there is a noticeable delay.

Version: 5.1.5.2

CPU Threads: 6; OS Version: Linux 4.4; UI Render: default;

Reproduction scenario:
1/ create new writer document
2/ press dt to create a dead text
3/ select first letter from right-to-left and press the Insert Hyperlink
toolbar button

Expected Behavior:
Insert Link Dialog pops up with selected text prefilled in the "Text" field.

Just tested on LibreOffice 5.1.4 on Linux and Im seeing the expected behavior.
This needs a better reproduction scenario. => NEEDINFO

Was the PDF Export completed using the "Hybrid PDF (embed ODF document)"? If
not the document does not exist within the PDF--it is not a Hybrid PDF-- and
you must use the PDF import filters, i.e. Fitle types -> "PDF Portable Document
Format (Writer) (*.pdf)".
