This bug report is about opening files _larger than 6.85MB_. If your difficulty

I have a similar problem, with some specific .xls files opening with the 'text
import' wizard - and on clicking 'ok' getting a corrupt spread-sheet.
Operating system: Linux 3.5.0.22 with KDE 4.9.4.

Hi!
The problem is somehow solved in 3.6.3.2 release. At least, when I'm opening
problematic presentation files using File - Open, they are opened normally. In
previous releases this approach also

In my experience, it's not about the size. And also not about whether files are
created in OpenOffice/LibreOffice.

- Writer opens such a file in binary mode (the whole document is shown in
special character), instead of importing the DOC file.
