hi,
i am having difficulty with streaming quicktime into director. i'm
talking about rtsp streaming, not the pseudo-streaming of downloading
movies. anyway the stream comes in ok, but the video always has a size
of 160x120 even when the size of the stream is larger. anyone know what
i'm doing
Hmm, neither one of those links seem to work for me... keep getting
macromedia's 404 page... I assume one of them is Mark Jonkman's article?

Yes, the first one is the Jonkman article (my favorite article to
reread). It seems the links got broken up in the email. The full link
ends in ...flash in director.html. Just assemble the whole address in
the browswer.
And by the way, as far as just going to a flash frame from lingo, use:
Oops... Usually thunderbird is good about not breaking links... I've
gotten spoiled since moving from Outlook :0)

Works better in angle brackets for email that wraps at 72 chars:

flash_in_director.html
Definitely helps, but Tbird doesn't like the spaces though...
Not that it really matters if the one reading the email ~pays attention~ :0)

In most cases your server will determine the bandwidth the user is at and
stream the appropriate video. Don't know much about your streaming server
but usually you would post a reference video. This video would reference
the appropriate playback video for the user's connection.

Hi,
I would like to know how I can take data from a xml formatted document
(updated every 5 sec.) or a text file and use that data to update some

thanks

Hi list...
If anyone has read Mark Jonkman's article,

(credit WthmO on the angle brackets), I'm using a function on the root
timeline to return to Lingo a list of all the properties in a Flash

For streaming QT in a browser, your size and speed are set in your QT
prefs (at least for the streaming trailers on QuickTime.com).
this indeed is correct for streaming QT played in the QT player or
embedded in a browser, but director seems to mess things up somehow.

I just tried this, and as you say, it does start to play at 160x120.
However, if you just go into the score, you can change the size (W
and H) to be 256x192, and it plays just fine that way too.
