I am running Suse Linux 8.1 under Z/VM. I downloaded a trial copy of DB2

Any suggestions? Thanks
Hi Rob
Thank you very much for your guidance . I did it and when I run:
cat /proc/dasd/devices , I see:

blocks, 2347 MB
0831(ECKD) at ( 94: 4) is dasdb:active at blocksize: 4096, 601020

Sopia,
Please try:
mount /dev/dasdn1 /mnt -t reiserfs -o rw
This mounts the first partition on the disk that contains your filesystem.

Hi Ronald
Wow , I did it and it could be mounted correctly . now i don't need this
dasdn1 , wether I need to do something to remove 0800 from
/proc/dasd/devices or if it unattach from vm and restart my machine is
enough?

Sophia,
The easiest way is:
$ umount /mnt
$ echo -n set 800 off /proc/dasd/devices
and when available:
$ hcp detach 800
or from the VM console:
#CP DETACH 800

Of course, Novell is now offering indemnification for its SUSE (SLES)
customers. An interesting, but not surprising move.
More fun than even that.

So far as I can tell, all that is wrong is that your default gateway entry
in /etc/route.conf looks like this:

when it should look like this:

When I try to ping anything outside the subnet is when I see the problem of

Can you ping the Router? You should do a traceroute. Most likely the new IP
address needs to be accepted by other router(s).

Or, he could just fix the obviously bad default gateway statement and be
done with it.

I am running SuSE Linux in an LPAR. And according to the SuSE documentation

I wouldn't find this terribly surprising. Rendering graphics is pretty CPU

not going to be extremely happy with Linux/390. By any chance do they have

only used by Linux/390 if you use the xpram device driver to emulate a

I've had the same performance when doing this.
In my case, in order to download the SUSE fixpack, due to our network

have to bring up x-windows, KDE and then Mozilla, in order to connect to
the Suse website to download.
