IIRC Barton Robinson once commented that Linux used to use the wall-clock time
to calculate the CPU usage. So it was quite easy to compensate the Linux view
with z/VM metrics. When virtualization became more common the kernel started
reporting on steal time. But the reported CPU and steal time

Zimbra FOSS seems to build fine except for the JNI piece. I can't seem to get
it to create the .so. I assume it's a configuration issue. Only a couple of
changes required (i.e. let it recognize s390x as a target).

Isn't the ibm tool just for z/os and at the LPAR level? nothing to do
the 4 hour rolling
average for linux servers (x or z), pools of linux servers, groups of
linux servers, and can be done for applications inside linux as well.

Hi,
Not sure if people have seen that attached article or heard of the 'intel'
chip issues from elsewhere:

The 'fix
pretty sure that zSeries isn't
affected by the issue (is it?), but if the Linux Kernel is changed, are we
likely to see a performance hit on Linux running on zSeries as well (even
though we don't need the fix)?
Best case scenario, can I tell my management that these won't affect Linux on z
