Anybody try Mandrake 9.1 beta 3 and get the OpenOffice RPM to install?
My son's having difficult getting the rpm to take. I don't have the
specific error handy (sorry), so I'm just looking for verification that
it can be done. I've tried the RPM from Mandrake's Cooker site, and
that's failing,

We have a user that uses Adobe PageMaker and other similar stuff and

Any ideas?

Thanks for all the info. The stock RH 8.0 seemed to have it, but I upgraded to
1.3b and lost it. And I can't seem to get the crossover office plugin to work.
It installs fine, but the plugin still doesn't work
I will do some more research.

You have to create the sym links to point to the flash plugins in the
new mozilla directory after the upgrade.
In my case, I upgraded 1.0 to 1.2, the upgrade creates a new directory
for the new version of mozilla under /usr/lib (mozilla-1.2.1) so I had
to go and create a sym link to the plugins
Just to make sure we're all clear, shockwave != flash. Flash works just
fine in Linux (without Xover, or any other hacks). Shockwave, AFAIK, does
not exist natively for Linux.

I am trying to install a new version of gcc so I can compile a new
version of glibc.
When I run configure I get this:

There is no install.sh in the sources.
Any insight appreciated.
BTW, if I can't fix this, I can't upgrade glibc

What version of glibc are you trying to upgrade to/from? WHat version
of gcc do you currently have? I never had to do anything with gcc when
i built glibc-2.2.5.

i took a short cut that roberto alsina suggested, which was to goose
up the option resolution line (which involved creating the line
first) in XF86Config. it doesn't fix the gdm problem, but if i turned
gdm off i wouldn't miss it, so that's not a huge concern, except
ldconfig -v

I upgraded from a botched version of glibc to glibc-2.2.5. The upgrade
finally worked, despite the fact that I can't compile things like

This is an old question I had. The main problem was the sleep command
only works in one second intervals. At the time, nobody could give me
an easy answer.
To my surprise (not really) there is a command which does just what I
want: usleep -m 200
This sleeps for 200 milliseconds.
