Moritz,
If you did a make install previously, you should do a
# depmod -a
then modprobe will resolve the dependencies automatically.
If you don't have any conflicting files from the previous kernel
install (the above commands show that you don't), a simple
# modprobe uvcvideo

Laurent,
Not in my case.
I have to do an rmmod

Hi,
I've tested this again, and I can confirm that in my case the problem
only occurs
after the first boot folowing a kernel upgrade.
Best regards

Hi,
While performing some tests on the latest svn revision of guvcview
I've notice some strange behaviour from the uvc driver dispatched
with Ubuntu latest kernel (2.6.27-8).
After starting guvcview in MJPEG mode everything is working fine, I then
proceed into changing the imput mode to yuv, also
Michael,
Dynamic controls need to be added to the driver first, and you will
require admin rights for that.
You can see examples of this on libwebcam:

and guvcview: http://guvcview.berlios.de
you will need to run them as root (sudo) once in order to
Michael,
I had a better look and it seems that 3 generation (2008 model) pro 9000
cameras are still uvc compliant,
but unfortunately suffer from several firmware/hardware bugs, that make
them almost unusable under linux.

Laurent,
I think you got the point :-)
Timing issues make the camera crash from a hardware/firmware bug. There's
unfortunately not much I can do about it.
:'( I thought this type of bug was limited to older models like my pro
5000, that was one of the reasons
I bought the sphere, as
Hi,
I've notice a similar problem with my sphere AF,
The camera is working OK, but then the controls stop responding, video
streaming is unaffected until I restart the app,
after this it just fails to start, and I need to rmmod/modprobe the
driver to get the camera working again.

Artem,
Can you please try the last svn revision (svn checkout
http://svn.berlios.de/svnroot/repos/guvcview/trunk)
The problem is related to the kernell version, there were some changes
in the v4l2 api that were causing the redefinition

Hi Andreas,
In regards to guvcview still image capture, when in MJPG mode, the
standard Huffman tables are added to the captured frame and in YUV mode
a built-in jpg compressor is used. I had no problems with this so far
(tested in Ubuntu, Debian and OpenSuse ), but if you could post me your
