Not anymore. It was released as an open ISO standard in 2008, source:

Apache actually has pen source authoring software for PDFs

Sounds fine... if you make it in LaTeX you can export to numerous formats..
Of course HTML would be nice, also, then we could read the documentation

I see that it could be a problem for the first project each new version,
that the notepad would then have the text in there, although it would just
be to delete that text after downloading a new LMMS. Yes, it would require
code that doesn't exist yet.
