Ubuntu beta 2 just came out.
So when will we have Lubuntu 10.04 beta 2?
Before releasing beta 2, please get the hotest pcmanfm2 and libfm from
git since there are some important fixes.
It's a pity that Lubuntu didn't enter Ubuntu family this time, but
we'll be ready at the time of 10.10.
At that
IIRC I haven't touch the strings due to the freeze, but it's always a
good idea to check in pootle or transifex again to make sure there are
no untranslated strings.
For the future release of PCManFM/Libfm, there will be periods for
freeze like this, so we can get proper translation and testing
i think because we are not in the ubuntu-family yet we dont have to bring a
beta2 when ubuntu releases one. We should take the time, include some more
programs (such as games) and release it when its ready. Even if the first
lubuntu is not an official *buntu, it should be a great, well tested
This makes sense.
Since we're not in Ubuntu family, there is no need to follow ubuntu schedule.
Let's take the time and make a good release rather than do things in a hurry.
Another benefit for the delay I found:
After ubuntu 10.04 release, there must be tons of bugs found. This is
predictable.

Already done :)
It's a pity that
OK, maybe some press release will be good.
BTW, several minutes ago, a bug in libfm causing crashes was fixed by Eugene.
Please update again. :-)
Actually you can try to do daily build from git since it's updated very often.

Dear PCMan,

I think it is alright to do a release after Ubuntu. In fact, there is a
small advantage to do so. We avoid all the noise from Ubuntu in the the
other websites and blogs.

Hi,
I've always advised people that lubuntu has to run a little later than
'main'. I'd back this with the fact the devs for 'main' did hold a beta back
by 24 hours because of issues; in fact going back to 6.06 was help back
precisely because of that. I totally support and am in 100% favour of

Hi,
I think it's a good time to do a quick summarize of the state of the
development of Lubuntu.
== About Lubuntu in the *buntu family ==
As you may know, Lubuntu will probably not be officially part of the
*buntu family. It doesn't mean we will never be part of it.
More important, it will
