I came to this thread late and may have missed something along the way.

Or would I have better luck

This fails with an error searching for the moc binary.

I am putting a Slackware-9.1 package for lyx-1.3.4 with the Qt front end

terribly low, but it _should_ be there in about 10 minutes.
The executable is installed in /usr/local/bin. If you have lyx-1.3.3

Nirmal, I think the problem is the lyx.spec has a dependency on "qt",
while mandrake provides "qt3". I think that you could/should replce in
lyx.spec the line

with something like
%define frontdep qt3 >= 3.1.0
Thanks JMarc.. I made the change above and uploaded the new

Rich,
Perhaps, Jean-Pierre's way is more convenient, as I can find several (and
not an only one) directories with sty files. Anyway, many thanks!

Create a local dir under texmf/tex/latex
put there anything you import and run texhash.
Thanks! I have created the directory texmf/tex/latex and put prettyref.sty
inside, but no progress.

Second, as root, run 'texhash' so the new style file is made visible to
