having people rebuild (using "rpm --rebuild lyx-1.1.6fix4.src.rpm")
and then upload their specific combination to ftp.lyx.org so we
can have it for other users with the same conf

This is very likely an xforms version problem. Can you install the xforms
from ftp.sylvan.com?
