File window does not open
Hi, I just installed Lyx on Win 7, 64 Bit, German. Lyx (1.6.7) is also in German. there is one big problem with Lyx that I can't work around. Any time you click on something, which should open a file window (e.g., open a file, new file from template, save as, open a skin file, ...) LYX goes to background (change of color, like it should) but comes back on top after 1/10th of a second without showing the file window. In other words, I never see the file window. Also changing the GUI-language doesn't have any effect (I prefer German, but thought that that might be related to the problem). Does anybody have an idea what the problem might be? I tried reinstalling and rebooting so far. Also removing the write protection attributes from all files in the Lyx16-Folder didn't have any effect. Thanks a lot in advance, Florian
Re: Vertical align text to top in a row with images
On 7/15/2010 6:28 AM, Falk Sticken wrote: I have a table with images in a row. First column has paragraph cells with row descriptions. Unfortunately I can not figure out how to align the text vertical such that it is at the top of the row. I tried diffrent settings and also used a parbox enclosing the images, but the text in the first column is always aligned to the bottom. When I try to use 'top' alignment for the column the outcome is even worse, as the text is beneath the baseline. Option 1: Do nothing with the images. Insert custom vertical space after the label in the first column (Insert > Formatting > Vertical Space ... with Spacing = Custom) and fiddle with the amount of space to achieve the desired effect. Option 2: Do nothing with the label. Embed the images in boxes (either minipages or parboxes). In the vertical alignment section of the settings dialog for each box, leave the Box value at Top, but change the Content value to Bottom (although Middle seems to work just as well). Option 2 requires less tweaking, but the label text aligns with vertical space that LaTeX inserts above the images. Option 1 allows the images to be flush with the top of the table row, and gives you more control over exactly where the label appears, but it requires manual tweaking. HTH, Paul

Even more reason -- uniformity of "graphic identity" -- that the Mac icon should be just the letters LyX. Bruce

In this connection, I don't know if any of you guys uses Gnome Do in linux. When you call LyX through Do, the logo that appears is not very nice: low resolution, and ugly white borders. See image attached. Manolo <>
MinionPro
I have the file MinionPro.sty installed in C:\Archivos de programa\MiKTeX 2.8\tex\latex\MinionPro, joint with all .fd files and other .sty files associated with this package. Also there are this files in my texmf tree: .enc files in C:\Archivos de programa\MiKTeX 2.8\dvips\MinionPro .map files in C:\Archivos de programa\MiKTeX 2.8\fonts\map\dvips\MinionPro .tfm files in C:\Archivos de programa\MiKTeX 2.8\fonts\tfm\adobe\MinionPro .pfb files in C:\Archivos de programa\MiKTeX 2.8\fonts\type1\adobe\MinionPro .vf files in C:\Archivos de programa\MiKTeX 2.8\fonts\vf\adobe\MinionPro In my updmap.cfg file there exists one line with, Map MinionPro.map Yes, after the installation of all files I ran texhash and updmap in a DOS commands window. And, finally, LyX recognizes the MinionPro.sty file because this file appears in the list of .sty files in Tools>TeX information. My problem is that when I try to view a simple document with my Yap DVI viewer that appears an error message like this: LaTeX error: File `MinionPro.sty´ not found *** (cannot \read from terminal in nonstop modes) In the preamble of the document, article class, that exists one line with: \usepackage{MinionPro} So, I don't understand nothing. Any help, please?

At the DOS prompt, entering `kpsewhich MinionPro.sty´ three seconds thinking about and after this time the prompt without messages.
