Thank you Paul, but apparently it doesn't work. When I put the NoStyle Problem line, I don't know why, but Lyx "cancels" the load of the theorems-ams module. It is like, instead of just delete the Problem style, it deletes all the module. Any other idea? Detect if document is part of a master file
Hello, I am currently writing a long document in Lyx. I use separate files for each chapter, which are joined together as child documents in a master file. My question is: is there any way to include the references at the end of each chapter when they are compiled as stand-alone documents, but to omit them automatically if they are part of the master document (which will have a single bibliography at the end of the whole thing)? What I'm trying to do is to be able to generate proper pdfs for the individual chapters with working references, without having to manually remove every bibliography section before generating the master document. LyX installation packages, possibly OT
Having resolved my issue with the LyX installation on my Mac, I also have installed it under Windows 7. Also appears to work fine. This has left me wondering about installation packages for different OS's. Why is it, that if it's a Windows program, if a supporting program is needed to make the program run, in this case, the supporting program is also included in the program's installation package. But, when the program goes into OS X, the supporting program isn't included in the installation package. My apologies to everyone, I screwed up. I had installed and then uninstalled LyX once before, just for a quick look at the LyX window. But didn't use it. But I had downloaded MetaTeX, but I don't remember if A) I didn't install it then, or B) I installed it and then uninstalled it at the same time I uninstalled it this time. At any rate, I started all over from scratch, and it works fine. Can't wait to get started with it, have a project in mind already! Re: Math-mode previews not showing properly
As far as I know my LyX setup is the default. Instant preview is set to on (preview size 1.0), UI language is set to default and language package is set to automatic. I've tried a few different screen fonts, including the cmr10 font from http://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Troubleshooting#latexttf, to no avail. Desktop language is US English. Updating from TeX 2012 to TeX 2013 did not fix the problem. I tried deleting LyX and reinstalling it but this did not fix the problem. Are LyX settings stored somewhere outside of the .app directory? It might happen that some stuff is not converted properly to the new scheme, since there are so many complex things you can do (especially if ERT is involved). If that happens, some finger-painting might be necessary, but you won't be left with a mess. I've tested a fair amount of all sorts of slides now. Common things should just work. So again, the more people help testing, the better the result in the final release of LyX 2.1 Jürgen

I have now installed the beta, and started to open my beamers. It is going quite smoothly for now. A small problem I have observed happens with the title of the frames. They are transformed to unrecognized argument boxes (I am translating from French). OK, I have found the preoblem: I had to copy beamer incremental list module from my older prefs folder/layouts, but I have copied beamer module (and others) also by error, and that was messing with my installation of the beta. I have deleted other modules, and the titles became correctly interpreted again. I will read the new manual now. Thanks for the suggestion. It gets rid of the warning, but the red color it
produces is much brighter than the red color I get by using
\documentclass[red]{beamer}. I think beamer actually uses "BrickRed" of the
dvips list (http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/LaTeX/Colors#Predefined_colors) for
titles and backgrounds (although not for "\alert{text}"), but I don't know
how to force \usecolorheme{structure} to use these named colours. I tried
inserting \usepackage[usenames,dvipsnames]{color} in the preamble, but then
I get an "Option clash for package color" warning. The following is a
minimum example (comment the first line and uncomment the two commented

Anders is right, it's that simple and does not need assistance :-)-O
What he forgot is that you must run Tools -> Reconfigure after
installation and then Quit and start LyX again.
If the individual is computer literate, and is concerned about disk
space, I would install the Basic package from the same web site however,
and then on occasion install missing packages with the tlmgr
(there is a Tex Live Utility).
I did that on my airbook and it works so well, that I do same on both
the iMac at home and at the practice. Synchronization needs a little
thought but is easy with something like
tlmgr info|grep ^i|awk '{print \$2}'|sed s/://g
giving all installed files which one feeds into the tlmgr on the other host.
And after each installation of a package that LyX needs to know about,
such as fonts. Linux Libertine does not come by default in the Basic for
example but installs with the tlmgr. LyX then needs a Reconfigure to
become aware of it.
If you start from scratch writing LyX documents it's less of a hassle
because you are aware of what specific LateX packages you include and
thus must install and make available. Using an existing document
sometimes gives a cryptic error, but the log files then show the missing
package.

I guess: the point is that without -nofork if you have xdvi already open, lyx starts a new instance every time you execute direct search. I also addedd the -editor option. okular: inverse search: Tools->Preferences->File Handling->File formats okular --unique I'm not using okular, --unique should be default for inverse search purposes? The default just says "okular" and the same in the following: I don't know wether it adds any option or not, but to have the correct behaviour without multiple instances of okular I had to specify these by hand. direct search: Tools->Preferences->Output->General okular --unique "$$o#src:$$n $$f" Pavel Thanks Fabio
