tilda missing
I am currently using LyX 1.3.2 on FreeBSD 4.8 (installed on i386) I have a number of web references in my masters thesis bibliography. I created the bibliography using Bibtex. Two of the references contain tilda ie: http://foo.com/~bar, but when it prints out all I have is a blank space: http://foo.com/ bar I tried modifying the reference to: http://foo.com/\~bar, but that changed the b (put the tilda over the top of the b, like some pronunciation thing) so then I tried : http://foo.com/\~\bar - to try and keep the b normal, but then I just got an error when I tried to view it. I am using a standard font (times or something generic like that), and my bib style is just a slight variation on apalike - I added my own section for referencing CDs. So my simple question is - how do I see the tilda as a normal tilda? Thanks in advance ;) Tim / All wiyht. Floats AND text on new page
I have some problems with the positioning of floats in my document. I have already tried the tips and tricks, discribed at Herberts page, but nothing worked: What I try to get with !htbp written in the header is a float position closest to the position I have it within the Lyx-GUI. Everthing works fine, except then the float doesn´t fit to the actual page and the p-option takes place. By using [EMAIL PROTECTED]@} I was able to fix the float to the top of the new page, but there is no text on this page, but only on the next page. Though I get a page, which has only the float on it and therefor is half empty. If I leave away the p-option and only use !htb I get a lot of ugly error messages. tilda missing
Tim Opie wrote: > So my simple question is - how do I see the tilda as a normal tilda? The tilde in LaTeX is \textasciitilde, but for url's you better use \url{http://foo.com/~bar} (and \usepackage{url} in the document preamble) which allows correct linebreaking of url's Regards, Juergen.
Win 32 QT version - LaTeX Configuration Error
Dear list I have installed Ruurd's port for lyx (qt) on a number of windows based machines and have arrived at a number of different problems (strangely not all problems shared by all computers). None of the problems are "life threatening" but perhaps someone can come up with some explanations as to the behaviour I'm finding. I'll post them as separate mails to help archive searches. Question 2. On a second Pc (OS - XP pro) I have installed the qt version separately direct into its own folder on root directory. C:\blah\lyx. I have a fully updated MikTex installed. Edit -> Reconfigure works fine with full listing in a command window however, Help -> LaTeX Configuration throws up an error box "Not a Lyx file!" Robin D. Saunders Hydraulics Research Group Dept. Floats AND text on new page
I have some problems with the positioning of floats in my document. I have already tried the tips and tricks, discribed at Herberts page, but nothing worked: What I try to get with "!htbp" written in the header is a float position closest to the position I have it within the Lyx-GUI. Everthing works fine, except then the float doesn´t fit to the actual page and the "p"-option takes place. By using [EMAIL PROTECTED]@} I was able to fix the float to the top of the new page, but there is no text on this page, but only on the next page. Though I get a page, which has only the float on it and therefor is half empty. If I leave away the "p"-option and only use "!htb" I get a lot of ugly error messages. Everthing works fine, except then the float doesn´t fit to the actual page and the "p"-option takes place. I suppose that your image in the float is wider than the textwidth/textheight. In this case LaTeX overwrites all placing parameters and chooses p, which is a float page _without_ text. try to decrease your image size to 50% of textwidth. If then all works well, choose a width of 100% of the columnwidth Herbert
Lyx cannot find file in tmp directory
Hello, I left lyx open for few days, and then we I get back to it and try open new files or close the file I had been working on, it gives a pop up box something like "Error couldn't open files /tmp/lyx* No such files or directory". I guess it's because the file that it tries to find got erased by the system. AFAIK, my system cleans the tmp files daily. Will this cause problem, or should it just be ignored? Latest stable Lyx, on Redhat Linux 7.3 Thanks for any info. If that happens you can always change the temporary directory to some place in your home directory, that hopefully will not be delete daily. ;-) That path is in preferences. > Latest stable Lyx, on Redhat Linux 7.3 > > Thanks for any info. > > RDB -- José Abílio LyX and docbook, a perfect match. :-)
Re: Win 32 QT version - Reconfigure
Have you tried running the reconfigure script (configure.bat) from a dos session? That's likely to be more informative. (I had a problem with this under win2k, which I think had to do with win2k on a 128MB ram machine. I switched shells --- bash.exe renamed sh.exe + cygwin1.dll from the cygwin distribution --- and it ran ok). Philip A.
