Indeed, in my experience the best way to convert from LyX to Word
(.doc) is to use an external program called t4ht that can produce
OpenOffice files from Latex files. Then load the file

I got some trouble with this before
I always put the "\begin {multicols}{2}" on an empty standart line wich
is at the same level as the enumerate which is to be in multicols.
