Hi all
I have been trying to work out how to make the degree symbol appear in
Lyx. There was a thread on this recently but it was all about using
mathematical equations, whereas I want to just insert the symbol as a
regular character.
Under Ubuntu, one can use the Keyboard preferences to set up a

Hi, Steve,
I haven't tried it yet for single-column mode (I use it for *forcing* a
3-columned index), but the package "multicol"

for you. In my preamble, I have the following:

Hi all,
My index contains lots of long phrases, meaning most of them wrap. This makes
it harder to read and use, and also makes it very long. In fact, having a
single column index probably wouldn't be much longer, because entries would
not wrap.
Anyone know how to create a single column index?
Hi all,
In preparation to create my index for my book, I created a Ruby program to
list every word in a file (in this case the .lyx file).
Now of course this could be done with a simple one-liner using sed and
sort -u, but my program lists the words in 2 different orders, first in alpha

Hi all,
Yes, I'm aware that "I'm looking for suggestions on indexing" is a rather open
ended question :-).
I've only indexed one book before, and on this one I intend to use multiple
levels something like this:
Bottleneck
Analysis
Offloading
Speed up
Slow down

Sounds good!
I guess, then, 'Complaints' really just some general voicing of ideas and
concerns (presumably unstructured), whereas 'FeaturePoll' specific suggestion

Hello Lyxers--
I just joined up with Lyx and was wondering if some kind soul might help
me with an issue I am working on. Basically, I have a program that
spits out pstricks decision trees. I turned to lyx as an alternative
means of getting my trees done since my tex abilities are well somewh

Hi everybody!
I want to report the results of my experiments in combining SVG figures
and
the PSFrag package in LyX, hoping that they will be useful to somebody.
The point was to draw a SVG figure in, say, Inkscape and insert it

into LyX without converting it
In a former message I complained that the new Lyx 1.4.4 neglects the
bounding boxes of the .eps figures.
Now I would like to stress that the easy and correct treatment of .eps
figures would be extremely important for those who, like me, use Lyx in
their everyday's work.

Dear list,
I'm trying to build 1.5.0beta1 on FreeBSD 6.1, but there seems a problem
with included boost. Up to 1.4.4 release, FreeBSD's lyx port was using
devel/boost in ports, not included one in lyx. However, it seems
lyx-1.5.0beta1 is using functions which is only in cvs, not release
