Ctrl-i.

With the minibuffer, you can additionally do
all-insets-toggle open footnote (or close or toggle) for all footnotes
in a document

a. A small map or illustration set within a larger one.
b. A leaf or group of pages inserted into a publication.
c. A piece of material set into a garment as decoration or trim.
2.
a. An inflow, as of water.
b. A channel.

How to use Lucida fonts

I would like to use Lucida fonts in one document, but I do not know how to do it. First of all, I would like to know if LyX can be

The point is that you need the rights to change the folder where such

Hi Ken,

Your post reminded me that someday I'd like to write a series of math books
for kids, and stuff like assumptions, therefore (the triple dots), laws,
theorums and the like would need their own styles or whatever. I wish someone

Hi!

I also had a similar problem. In my case, if I do not remember wrong, it was not a problem with rights (or not completely), but of
missing files. I would suggest you to do the following. Under C:\Documents and Settings\your-username\Application Data\ or under
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\ there should be a directory called Aspell. Inside that directory there should
be another two: Dictionaries and Personal. The Personal directory should contain two files, namely en.prepl and en.pws (assuming
you are using the English language). If you do not find those files (that was my case), create them: Write personal_repl-1.1 en 0 as
the first line of en.prepl and personal_ws-1.1 en 0 as the first line of en.pws.

Hope this is of help!

I was wondering if there are alternate svn servers for lyx as svn.lyx.org is

 Hi Olivier :

I make your indications, and in the configure process, give me the
 error :
checking size of wchar_t... configure: error: cannot compute sizeof

 and exit

 Someone idea

It seems that this is due to wchar.h missing on your hard drive. When i
look for it (locate wchar.h) on mine, it seems to be:

/usr/include/wchar.h
and
/usr/include/bits/wchar.h

Asking rpm for which files have provided them:
rpm -q --whatprovides /usr/include/wchar.h
the returned file is:
glibc-devel-2.4-8mdv2007.1
(OK, I reckon I have a mix of 2007.1 and 2007.0 on this computer).

Have you installed glibc-devel package ? It is the most basic devel
package to install if you want to compile a program. If not, then I
wonder if you will not have plenty of other errors later. You need to
install devel packages for every library that LyX will use in order to
compile it. A decent install should always have devel packages for
glibc, gtk, X, qt, glib, stdc++ and a few other installed.

Best regards,

Olivier

PS: actually, wchar_t may be defined in stddef.h, provided also by
glibc-devel

Tim, I guess what Micha means is if you need to use \and in ERT to
separate authors in the author environment of a document. The answer,
AFAIK, is that it depends on the class. I think that if you have
multiple authors, the best approach is to use a full ERT first page
where you include the title, authors, addresses, abstract and
keywords.

Hope this helps.

1. Go to wherever LyX lives/Resources/layouts and copy the file

CopyStyle Theorem
LatexName assumption
LabelString Assumption @[EMAIL PROTECTED]

Haven't found one. Hypothetically it might be possible to cobble
together a layout file that dealt with this by having two author
environments (one for the last or sole author, one for any author other
than the last), but I think it would involve convincing LyX not to stick
a blank line (or bunch of blank lines) in the exported LaTeX file

You can, of course, bind a key combination to insert the \and in ERT.
The sequence to bind would be something like

  command-sequence ert-insert;self-insert \and{};

Not sure this is what you mean, but if you mean a binding that will
screw up the text font in a preplanned way (as opposed to a way to
insert a character style definition in wherever it is one inserts these
things), here's a sample binding:

floats before section

Are you sure that these are \sections? You perhaps have there \chapters, the
the command would be

\let\myChapter\chapter
\renewcommand{\chapter}{\suppressfloats[t]\myChapter}

Thanks Paul,

What I meant was much simpler. I noramlly click the menu's Insert, then click

With the minibuffer, you can additionally do
all-insets-toggle open footnote (or close or toggle) for all footnotes

The point is that you need the rights to change the folder where such

Hi Ken,

Your post reminded me that someday I'd like to write a series of math books

 (wchar_t), 77

1. Go to wherever LyX lives/Resources/layouts and copy the file
amsmaths.inc. Park the copy in your home/.lyx/layouts (I think,
maybe) if you're a Linux user or C:\Documents and Settings\your
id\Application Data\LyX1.4.x\layouts if you're a Windows user (unless,
of course, you're using 1.5.0svn). If you're a Mac user, hit the funny
looking key and Steve Jobs will stop by to do it for you. ;-)

2. Edit the new copy of amsmaths.inc in a text editor. Add the
following at the bottom:

Style Assumption
CopyStyle Theorem
LatexName assumption
LabelString Assumption @[EMAIL PROTECTED]
Preamble
  \theoremstyle{plain}
  \newtheorem{assumption}[thm]{Assumption}
EndPreamble
End

3. Cross your fingers (toes too if you're flexible) and start LyX.

Haven't found one. Hypothetically it might be possible to cobble
together a layout file that dealt with this by having two author
environments (one for the last or sole author, one for any author other
than the last), but I think it would involve convincing LyX not to stick
a blank line (or bunch of blank lines) in the exported LaTeX file
between author fields, and I don't know how to do that, or even if it's
possible.

You can, of course, bind a key combination to insert the \and in ERT.
The sequence to bind would be something like

  command-sequence ert-insert;self-insert \and{};

Not sure this is what you mean, but if you mean a binding that will
screw up the text font in a preplanned way (as opposed to a way to
insert a character style definition in wherever it is one inserts these
things), here's a sample binding:

command-insert font-bold; font-noun; font-size tiny;

Are you sure that these are \sections? You perhaps have there \chapters, the

Ctrl-i.

With the minibuffer, you can additionally do
"all-insets-toggle open footnote" (or "close" or "toggle") for all footnotes
in a document

http://www.thefreedictionary.com/inset

1. Something set in, as:
a. A small map or illustration set within a larger one.
b. A leaf or group of pages inserted into a publication.
c. A piece of material set into a garment as decoration or trim.
2.
a. An inflow, as of water.
b. A channel.

So we use it in the sense of 1.

There is one caveat: If I press Ctrl+i in an "inline" ERT box, it changes

(I haven't found a obvious minibuffer function for this. Maybe it is just

Are you on WinXP? Do you work in LyX as an administrator or a
non-administrator user?

I had the same problem I guess, see

http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-users@lists.lyx.org/msg55105.html

new english words go in a file named en.pws, new italian words go in
it.pws etc. For me these files are in "documents and settings\all
users\application data\aspell\personal"

The point is that you need the rights to change the folder where such
files reside.

But in the example below from Stefano Baroni; if I write a \label{..}

Is it possible to correct?

Otherwise, since you write the form
   1+1=2 (2), F=ma (3), A=bh (4)
is more common, how can I do that? I tried with minipages but the
equations kept coming on different lines.

Thank you for all help!

I don't know how to do this in one single line. But your style is

Hi Ken,

Your post reminded me that someday I'd like to write a series of math books
for kids, and stuff like assumptions, therefore (the triple dots), laws,
theorums and the like would need their own styles or whatever. I wish someone
would write a book explaining how to write a math book (I mean from the

Re: Spellchecker problems on Windows

Hi!

I also had a similar problem. In my case, if I do not remember wrong, it was not a problem with rights (or not completely), but of
missing files. I would suggest you to do the following. Under "C:\Documents and Settings\\Application Data\" or under
"C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\" there should be a directory called Aspell. Inside that directory there should
be another two: Dictionaries and Personal. The "Personal" directory should contain two files, namely "en.prepl" and "en.pws" (assuming
you are using the English language). If you do not find those files (that was my case), create them: Write "personal_repl-1.1 en 0" as
the first line of "en.prepl" and "personal_ws-1.1 en 0" as the first line of "en.pws".

Hope this is of help!

Hallo,

I have notices that somehow the database of indexes is
not being updated during consecutive views/changes of

looks like [?] (?) or things get shifted, although usually
the this gets fixed after a couple of consecutive views.

How can it be fixed permanently ?
