optional argument to "thanks" section in v1.5.4 broken?
In v1.3, Elsevier articles could have their thanks references made through an optional argument, as seen in this post: http://article.gmane.org/gmane.editors.lyx.general/21473/match=OptArg But when I copy that lyx code into a file and open it with lyx 1.5.4, the optional argument shows up on the screen, but not in the tex code. Is it a bug in lyx 1.5.4 that optional arguments are ignored? - Fred -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/optional-argument-to-%22thanks%22-section-in-v1.5.4-broken--tp16760157p16760157.html Sent from the LyX - Users mailing list archive at Nabble.com.

No; if you're using LyX's bibliography environment rather than a separate .bib file, then you don't need to worry about it. Perhaps you could send to the list a (minimal) .lyx file that exhibits the problem so that we can see more clearly what you're doing. Bennett

On Mac, the standard place to put it is ~/Library/texmf/bibtex/bib/. Try moving it there and then making sure the reference in your .lyx document is correct before typesetting again. Bennett
references
Hi, I use Lyx 1.5.4 on a Mac and my references show up fine in Lyx document. After converting to dvi and viewing with TexShop, there are only question marks and the reference is "broken" into seperate pieces (e.g. Mustermann, M. (2003) will be (?,?,?)). Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!! Graphics in LyX 1.5.4 on MacOS X cause strange error
Hi, I am trying for a while to get a LyX file converted into PDF but get stuck with the same error message. My setup is LyX 1.5.4 on a MBP (core Duo) running OSX 10.5.2. Here is what I have done so far: - Installed and re-installed teTex, LyX and most gwTex packages (through iInstaller) - Started a new document, using standard settings where possible (defaults.lyx) - Messed with all sensible graphics formats (TIFF, PNG, EPS, as a floating object or inserted directly ...) But the error stays the same. For every graphic I get the message block: Undefined control sequence. Missing $ inserted. Extra }, or forgotten $. Extra }, or forgotten $. Undefined control sequence. Needless to say, these control sequences and $s are beyond my reach, as they seem to be created by LyX in an intermediate LaTeX file. So I must assume that something fundamental is broken in the way LyX handles graphics. But then this mailing list would overflow with this kind of message ... but it isn't! So I must be doing something wrong. But what? The LaTeX protocol is not really helpful to me, but maybe some kind soul out there might see more from this. This is what I get with the newly created document: --cut--- Kapitel 1. LaTeX Font Info:Try loading font information for T1+phv on input line 97. Re: Error exporting OpenDocument
张玉 Zhang Yu, Aaron wrote: I download the lyx1.5.4 installation for windows, and get it installed with default setup. It downloads MikteX and ImageMagik automatically. However when select File->Export->OpenDocument, it runs "Latx run Number1"..."oolatex -filename", but nothing happens to my directory. I searched all my files and I'm sure there's no output. Anyone know what's the problem? Lyx 1.5.4 MikTeX 2.7 Windows XP I have the same setup except that it's MiKTeX 2.6. The version of TeX4HT I have installed is the MiKTeX package. (You can also download and install it from non-MiKTeX sources, which may make a difference. See http://schlosser.info/latexsystem-en.html#x1-23.6.) It's broken on my system, and the problem lies (I think) with TeX4HT, not with LyX. Try exporting an ODT file as before, and after it fails (with LyX still open) use Windows Explorer to look at your temp directory. Tools -> Preferences... -> Paths -> Temporary directory will get you close to it; below that you'll find lyx_tmpdir# (where # is a randomly generated number) and below that will be lyx_tmpbuf# where # is a sequence number for which doc in the current session you're working with. In that directory, you should find yourfile.tex and a bunch of other stuff, and I'm guessing you'll find yourfile.tmp, which will be your document in XML format. Assuming yourfile.tex is there, open a command prompt in that directory, make sure the MiKTeX bin directory is on your command path, and run 'oolatex yourfile.tex'. You'll get a heaping helping of output, and somewhere in it I'm pretty sure you'll find one or more error messages. On a trivial test file I got the following: System call: java -classpath c:\tex4ht\texmf\tex4ht\bin xtpipes -i c:\tex4ht\texmf\tex4ht\xttl\ -o newfile1.4oo newfile1.tmp Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: xtpipes --- Warning --- System return: 1 The Java exception was fatal (hence return code 1),and so newfile1.oo was never created. The rest of the conversion process chugged along minus the file it was supposed to be converting, so I got a bunch of ancillary stuff but no actual document. Then comes a second fatal error (well, it would be fatal if the victim weren't already dead): System call: zip sxw-newfile1.dir\newfile1.odt sxw-newfile1.dir\META-INF\*.* 'zip' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. --- Warning --- System return: 1 It seems that something thinks the command to zip a file on my system is 'zip', which is incorrect. The second problem looks like a configuration problem, but I'm not sure about the first one. In any case, I have no idea how to reconfigure TeX4HT when it's installed as a MiKTeX package. I could work around the second one by creating a script named 'zip' that would run my zip utility, but I don't know what to do about the xtpipes class error. I suggest you try this experiment and, if you get similar results, maybe try uninstalling the MiKTeX tex4ht package and installing from source. /Paul

Vertical spacing in table of contents
I am using Lyx 1.5.4 on Windows XP. I have written a 232 page document using the report class. The table of contents runs over 4 pages. On the fourth page, the vertical spacing between the lines increases automatically so that these lines (less in number) occupy the whole page. How can I make the vertical spacing between lines uniform in the table of contents? Any help will be appreciated Dr. Shamik H. changing enumeration labels
Hello, I have change in a document (in the preamble) the numeration style like that: \renewcommand{\labelenumi}{\alph{enumi}.)} \renewcommand{\labelenumii}{\roman{enumii}.)} It works fine with the dvi and pdf output, but it would be nice if Lyx would show that on screen too (It still shows the default numbering). Is there a way to force Lyx to do so? I guess Lyx does not look at the preamble before compiling and therefore does not know my wishes. Does anybody know if this "feature" is planned (for example in the document settings like one can change the bullets)? thanks, - helmut My Version of Lyx: 1.5.2 -- Helmut Hauser Institute for Theoretical Computer Sciences Technische Universitaet Graz Inffeldgasse 16b, I A-8010 Graz, Austria --- [EMAIL PROTECTED] Tel: + 43 316 873-5821 Fax: + 43 316 873-5805 http://www.igi.TUGraz.at/helmut/
