Re: Re: use {gmeometric} in Lyx?
There still seems to be some kind of package clash. (kpsewhich shows that the sty files are installed correctly). I even tried it with all packages that gmeometric is based on. Now it seems to have a problem with itemize and still says that geometry is only allowed in the preamble. Never mind. I might sort out something eventually. In the meantime I have been exploring alternative scenarios, i.e. have the page in landscape A4 and just print it off in A3. Sounds easy, one might think... example 1 \usepackage{lscape} or \usepackage{pdflscape} (they are supposedly different, but in my case they came up exactly the same in LYX) \begin{landscape} *** content on a landscape page *** \end{landscape} This rotates very nicely the page, but the headers stay on the top (as they should, because in the normal page you just want to turn your document). However as I want this page to be in A3 later on the header has to be on the long site. example2 \usepackage{portland} should in theory turn the whole thing including headers, but refuses to do so when I try it! \landscape *** content on a landscape page *** \portrait Well, outcome just as in lscape, no rotation of the headers. example 3 keep pages empty and replace them later over the command line using pdftk. Possibly ok if you don't have fancy headers with section titles in them and if you have endless time to replace all single pages with the right page numbers. - So if anyone has an idea how to rotate the headers, it would be very much appreciated! LyX for MAC: problems in handling file images
Hi all, is there anyone of the LyX for MAC users which could help me with handling images in LyX? I use Lyx 1.5.4 for Mac (PowerPC, Mac OS X 10.3.9) and I have found out that I cannot insert in Lyx files JPEG images. I can only insert PNG images (and PDF as well, even if they are not showed in Lyx as a preview). If I try to insert JPEG images, I get an error message saying that the system is unable to convert the image format. Something similar happens when I use the Export function to HTML, even if the LyX file has PNG images (which are not a problem in LyX preview and in the pdf output). In the case of the Export function for files with PNG images I get this message: No information for converting png format files to eps. Define a converter in the preferences. Actually, the result of the HTML Export is a Folder which contains the HTML file converted form Lyx as well as the files of the PNG images which I had inserted in the original Lyx file, but when I open this html file in the browser window I can't see the png images within the HTML page. As for my installation, I installed ImageMagick with the full LyX package. I think it works, otherways I couldn't charge png images, which are correctly shown both in the Lyx preview and in the pdf output, still something doesn't work. Could you please help me with this issue? Thank you very much for your kind help. Pierfranco

There seems to be several problems. I'd try to look at lines 23 and 30 of newfile1.nw and check what needs to be done to fix the 'unescaped << in documentation chunk' error. But apart from that LyX seems to tun into an endless loop, and there's a problem with menu shortcuts, but that's most likely nothing that can be fixed on the user side. Could you send the 'newfile1.nw' file (possibly cut down to the first 35 lines or so?) Andre'
Re: Re: use {gmeometric} in Lyx?
There still seems to be some kind of package clash. (kpsewhich shows that the sty files are installed correctly). I even tried it with all packages that gmeometric is based on. Now it seems to have a problem with "itemize" and still says that "geometry is only allowed in the preamble". \landscape *** content on a landscape page *** \portrait Well, outcome just as in "lscape", no rotation of the headers. example 3 keep pages empty and replace them later over the command line using "pdftk". Possibly ok if you don't have fancy headers with section titles in them and if you have endless time to replace all single pages with the right page numbers. - So if anyone has an idea how to rotate the headers, it would be very much appreciated! As I am pretty new to this, and eso-pic seems a bit complicated just to add a logo into the footer (indeed on first reading I have no idea what I should be doing) . Even though I appreciate it has obvious reasons for use in terms of free form placement of images on a page. As tutorials to add a logo suggest what I did, but don't help in terms of being wrongly positioned, are you suggesting eso-pic because there is no other way of refining the position of a logo when its part of the footer. Re: positioning logo in footer
If you want to place a logo (figure, graphic or something) in a page, you can use the command: \AddToShipoutPicture{} (puts the picture on every page) \AddToShipoutPicture*{} (puts it on to the current page) See the eso-pic package documentation. Sorry for the delay in answering, I managed to miss your reply. To reply to my self,in fact \hfill does the job, when I tried this before, I obviously had the syntax wrong. Thanks, Graham

If I attempt DVI or PS, it doesn't do anything, as if I didn't even click the buttons. Are there perhaps some processes hanging? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks First question: does this happen just with one file (in which case the file is somehow broken), or does it happen with any document (in which case either LyX or your LaTeX distro is broken)? If it's just the one document, try exporting it as a LaTeX file and run latex (or pdflatex) against it to see if it compiles correctly. /Paul

Thank you You may be able to insert some commands in the preamble, after loading the beamer theme, to modify the header line. If that doesn't work, you'll have to write your own beamer theme (which is not all that hard -- I just cobbled one together for my own presentations). Which theme are you using? /Paul

Memoir: Any possible way to have clickable table of contents?
Hi all, I'm not finding any way to include hyperref in a Memoir derived document class, and I'm getting orders requiring me to do so. Before I spend a couple days reworking a finished book's layout file to be derived from Book instead of Memoir, does anyone know a way to have a clickable table of contents (and cross references) in a Memoir derived document?
