I would like the equation numbers to appear in brackets in the text
when I reference them. How can this be done?
I use the Prettyref option and that puts in the parantheses around the
eqn. number when you reference an equation.. if you click on the
reference inset, in Format, hit Formatted

KDE either). Couldn't find anywhere to download the Qt stuff from, and
I had to hack into the source to figure out why colors weren't being
set at all.

Edit it to an empty string?
Thanks for the responses everyone.. toggle numbering works.. but editing
the label to an empty one still leaves a number in the final output and
results in some funny behavior.. i.e. the label number (say #2) shows up
and the next equation is numbered correctly (#3)

native Win32 version at:

It's pretty easy to install and doesn't require cygwin...

Can anybody tell where is the layout file for FoilTEX available?
It should be in your LyX installation directory (in layouts/ or
lib/layouts/ subdirectory depending on the version you're using) and is
called foils.layout. Just try locate foils.layout and you should be
able to find it.

A couple of things you should check for:
1. location of bst file -- needs to be where tex can find it.. if it's in a local
texmf directory, then that directory must be in the path.. check the lyx help...
there's a section on this..
2. Maybe closing the file and reopening it might help.. also

Just compiled 1.2.2 without any problems (using xforms 1.0) on my new
ibook running debian powerpc with the benh kernel.. things look a lot
different (a lot better i.e.) on the mac I must say...

Thanks Dekel.. for the archives - pdftops reduces the quality of the
document so I downloaded pdfnup and that works great on the pdf files..
and it's a shell script so there's really no installation...

For pdf files you can either convert the pdf to ps

OK, I did get it to work but I had to eliminate the brackets. If I
tried entering the brackets as you have it above, it produces several
errors. Just adding an ERT: \large prior to my BibTeX inset worked.
