beamer question
Hi Now we have the raspberry PI out, I can perhaps use a raspberry Pi as part of a display system for a TV, sort of scroll through slides etc. if i create a presentation in beamer does this allow for auto changing of slides as in if I set the pi to auto boot to x, auto login and start a presentation, I want it to run the presentation and when it gets to the end, start over from the beginning without having to press a keyboard to go to next slide. Just wondered if this is possible or another package should be used. Paul -- -- http://drupal.zleap.net skype : psutton111 http://www.linkedin.com/pub/paul-sutton/36/595/911

underfull/ overfull badboxes
Hi Following on from my previous questions on LaTex, the same file I have now figured out how to add tables of contents and indexes, which should be handy when I want to do this in LyX too, as I will have a better idea of what goes on underneath. My qestion now is around over / underfull boxes, the attached file (not sure if I needed to include the graphics here) but it compiles fine, only I get badbox errors on lines 27,underfull \hbox (badness 10,000) in paragraph 31,underfull \hbox (badness 10,000) in paragraph 31underfull \hbox (badness 10,000) in paragraph I get an overfull \hox on line 62, (10,20177pt too wide) in paragraph I just wondered what has happened, as I said it compiles fine, so despite 10,000 being high up the scale on badness it seems happy with something. I have looked this up just can't see what is wrong with my text, as I start other paragraphs in the same way any they don't give issues. I take it there are other ways I should be presenting that list at the end perhaps as a table would be better, or don't i need to have url then what it is next to it, thanks, Paul -- -- http://www.zleap.net http://www.ubuntu.com skype : psutton111 http://www.linkedin.com/pub/paul-sutton/36/595/911 \documentclass[11pt]{report} \usepackage{graphicx} \usepackage{float} \usepackage{makeidx} \makeindex \begin{document} \begin{center} \bf A SIMPLE GEANY HOW TO\\ \end{center} \begin{center} By Paul Sutton\\ \end{center} \begin{center} March 2012\\ \end{center} \newpage \tableofcontents \newpage \subsection*{Introduction} \addcontentsline{toc}{subsection}{Introduction} \index{Introduction} The following paragraph is taken directly from the Geany Website [1]\\Geany is a text editor using the GTK2 toolkit with basic features of an integrated development environment. It was developed to provide a small and fast IDE,which has only a few dependencies from other packages. It supports many filetypes and has some nice features.\\ \subsection*{Getting Started} \addcontentsline{toc}{subsection}{Getting Started} \index{Getting Started}% If Geany is not already installed you need to go to the Ubuntu software centre [2] and install it. contrast of pdf files

word search generator
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 Hi this probably isn't the right place to ask this, I am designing a newsletter for my local rugby club using lyx, I would like to include a word search as a fun part of the document, I am trying to google, but thought that I could ask here too, what i need is something that will produce a word search in LaTeX that is simple enough to perhaps copy / paste as ERT, I have converted a table using txt2tags that has the club league table on it, but doing a word search is more complex. so type in or input a list of words have these auto inserted in random places as you would find in a real wordsearch and add filler letters thanks for any help / suggestions. feature that may be useful - auto word count
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 While typing if i want to add a word count I can highlight the text i want counted and use tools - statistics, then put the result in a margin note manually. what would be useful is to be able to define a block of text, say paragraph, hold the page count in a variable, then inside a margin note (or similar) have it auto update the word count. perhaps have a total word count appear in the status bar too for the whole document. some way of monitoring things in real time. Just thought it would be handy, not sure how it would work i can insert new page, so perhaps have insert block start / end, perhaps then at the end of the document, have a way of inserting word count which is then a sum of all the variables, added to gethre, so block1+block2= total word count any ideas Paul - -- Paul Sutton www.zleap.net Ubuntu 9.10 is out : Visit www.ubuntu.com for details The January meeting of the DCLUG will now take place on SUNDAY 10th January, 3pm at the shoreline in Paignton. On and one more question, in the text layout under document settings if I type 1.5 in to line spacing will it display as 1.5 line spacing (another requirement), as this is not listed as an option. but it comes under custom. LyX vs Word processors
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 I accidently sent this to Typhoon, so have now posted to the right place , (hopefully) Seems to be that ReST would yet another markup to learn, where as if we stick to say Latex or plain text, we use what we are familar with, and can go back to concentrating on content, which is one of the main points of latex. pastebin supports LaTex, so i what would be needed is some sort of website that people working on a paper can log in to, and paste bits of code, and then perhaps upload pdf, ps, or dvi files to link to the code, Or even better something like this http://codepad.org/ which supports programming languages but set up to deal with latex, online so select output, hit compile and it produces a pdf or whatever on the remote server for the team to download and review. I am sure the above is possible, not sure how though. the txt2tags website can take simple mark up and produce latex output, ok this goes back to what i said earlier, about learning more mark up, but it shows that this can be done, so an online latex collaboration tool should be possible, if it concentrated on latex and related such as bibtex, then it would be a very powerful tool. http://codepad.org/ Paul -BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE- Version: GnuPG v1.4.9 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org iEYEARECAAYFAknbIXgACgkQaggq1k2FJq2X4wCfVbeU29Ma9uZnxyn/dxSvO65i FjEAn37CbTdBDSjrUs+D70+ueTcIUsHV =kexE -END PGP SIGNATURE-

This is for the linux documentation project, so I have done a similar document just need to update it, which is what I am using lyx for I put all the data in tables, but I think this was a bad idea, as the newlines etc are causing problems, what I want to go back to is a document without all the table tags in, so it just lists what was in the table in the lyx document things like ^B Left^F Right ^P Up ^N Down right now this is in a table, but I want it not in a table, I can't seem to find out how to highlight the table and just remove it, the code for the above is \begin{tabular}{|c|c|c|c|} \hline \textasciicircum{}B & Left & \textasciicircum{}F & Right\tabularnewline \hline \hline \textasciicircum{}P & Up & \textasciicircum{}N & Down\tabularnewline \hline \end{tabular}\begin{tabular}{|c|c|} \hline \textasciicircum{}Z & Previous Word\tabularnewline \hline \hline \textasciicircum{}X & Next Word\tabularnewline \hline \end{tabular} so there has to be a way to undo the table bit. Even if its a perl or bash script that I can run on the file and have it remove the appropriate code. thanks for any help.
