2 Abstracts, 1 German

2008-08-08 Thread Sebastian Rohrer

Hi all,

I am completing my PhD-Thesis in lyx. The thesis is in English, but
since it's a German university, I am required to feature two abstracts,
one in English, one in German.

For the English abstract everything is fine: I go to the beginnig of
the text, change the text to Abstract and start typing. The heading
Abstract is inserted automatically.

Now I inserted a page break and again changed to Abstract. Now
however, I need the German word Zusammenfassung as the heading. The
problem is, lyx does not insert a heading at all in this second
abstract. And if it did, I wouldn't know how to change it.

Any suggestions?

Thanks a lot,

Sebastian

Center Tables *AND* Table-Footnotes

2008-07-31 Thread Sebastian Rohrer

Hi all,

I have several tables in my document, which I would like to align
centered. The problem is that the tables have footnotes. Now if I set
the paragraph alignment of the table to centered, the table aligns how
it should. However, the accompanying footnotes are aligned at the left
margin.

Is there any way to align the footnotes with the table?

Thanks,

Sebastian

Finding Bad characters

2008-07-25 Thread Sebastian Rohrer

Hi,

I have a relatively large lyx document that does not compile. The error
message is:

Some characters of your document are probably not representable in the
chosen encoding. Changing the document encoding to utf8 could help.

The problem is most likely caused by some characters that I forgot to
change after pasting from OOwriter. Is there any way to find those
characters? It is very tedious by eye...

Thanks,

Sebastian

You might try to give the options as global options (in the
DocumentSettings Tab under the choosen document class).

If you View - Source, does the \usepackage command appear as above
(with the option present)? If so, the problem is not with LyX.

/Paul

Thanks again for your help. The usepackage does appear in the source
code with the option present.

However, if I scroll down to the end of the source, I find the following:

\bibliographystyle{plain}
\cleardoublepage\addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{\bibname}\bibliography{/xchange2/basti/Literature/literature}

Can it be, that the bibliographystyle command overrides the uspackage
command?
