Is the trailing part of the path (public.gmane.org) really part of the path
to the target file? It's also odd that the path would start in the temporary
buffer directory -- if you use Insert - Include File, even

starts with a drive letter specification (c:/) is an absolute path and not
a relative one.
Could you try without the drive letter, that is setting the target to
/lyxfiles/thesis/ch3.tex?

I am using the Include file tool and wondered whether it was possible to
include files that are not in the same directory as the Main file. At
present i can only get it to work if all the files are in the same
directory.
Anyone know a work around for this

I also dont feel it is a bug. Once you actually return to the original
document (with the open ERT window) and type anywhere the text disappears
(on my win32 setup at least) and the box returns to its empty state
(albeit with what you just typed in it!)

'Error converting to loadable format'
This tends to happen with figures that I have drawn in another package,
say Illustrator, and then exported as eps. It doesnt always
Ok well removing the previews didnt work. Is it bad practice to just use
the .pdf versions of all the graphics?

getting the following error
