Two column
Hello I wrote a paper using the IEEE document class. It is a two column paper. On the last page is my references. It fills only part of the left column. Installing IEEEtran packages
Hello I would like to thank all the help I got! I managed to install the IEEEtran document class. In Lyx Layout->Document->class there now is article (IEEEtran). This really makes life a lot easier to prepare papers using Lyx. Here is what I did and I hope that this could help someone else: 1. First I got the IEEEtran.cls and IEEEbib.bst files from http://www.ieee.org/organizations/pubs/authors.html 2. As root I created the following directories in /usr/local/share and the reason for this is that my Lyx is installed here: texmf/tex/latex/IEEE -> here I put the IEEEtran.cls file texmf/bibtex/bst/IEEE -> here I put the IEEEbib.bst file 3. Update the texmf.cnf file to include the directories in 2 in the tree. On my computer the texmf.cnf file is in: /usr/share/texmf/web2c -> texmf.cnf is here 4. Launch the texhash command 5. In Lyx launch the Options->Reconfigure command 6. Restart Lyx This will do it. Since I am not very good in upgrading my system, I found this not to difficult. The effort was worth it! IEEE
Hello I fixed the previous problem I had regarding the IEEEtran class. The file is compiling. There are now only a part of a word on one page. The result is a lot of pages. I attached a example file where I usec Export->LaTeX (users.tex). I also included the users.ps file that can be viewed using gv. I would appreciate some help on this one. I'm using the report style for my thesis and would to add the promotors on
the title page. I tried the following:
\title{Title}
\authors{Author}
\date{Date}
\begin{center}
Promotors: Promotor1, Promotor2
\end{center}
\maketitle
The title is fine. The Promotors however is in the center on a next page.
How can I do that in Lyx. I would also like to add a page for declaration
en one for the synopsis.

Hello I encounter a problem with my citaion references. Using the citation reference I typed in the space labeled 'key' Kamper(1991) so that I know the paper. However when I view the ps file it appears like [?] instead of [12] if it was paper number 12. How can I mark the citation so that it is easy to use it when using it. Hello! I have three questions 1. I want to use the name of the author+date in the bibliography in the remark field and not a number. However all the entries are then aligned with the entry with the longest authorname. How can I change it that there is a single space between the remark and the rest of the enry? 2. Hello I am using the report document class. However it does not make provision for an appendix. Is there a way to possible change the heading to be appendix instead of chapter maybe. Margin
I am writing a document using layout->document->class->book. The margins left, right, bottom and top are all set to 20mm. When printing the document from gv it is as if the whole page is shifted down. The top margin is more tha 20mm and the bottom one less than 20mm. Is there some setting that I am missing? Hallo I'm writing my thesis and use lyx. The document class that I use is book. The specifications for my thesis is that only one side of the page is printed. With the book class the even page numbers are on the left of the page and the text is also a bit more to the left and not in the center. The odd page numbers are on the right side and the text are also more to the right and not in the center. Another thing is that between each chapter there is a blan page. What I'd like is that all the text on all the pages must be in the middle op the pages as well as the page numbers. And I also want to get rid of all the blank pages between chapters. Multicolumn figures
Hello I want to display two figures next to each other on the same page. Therefore I inserted a table with two columns and one row. The difficulty I have is to place text underneath the figure. Each time the text is next to the picture and not below the picture. I also could'nt insert a figure float in the table cell because Lyx does not allow it. However to type the underscore in normal editing mode I use shift-underscore (the key next to the zero on the keyboard). In the math editor this means a subscript and that is not what I want.
