Some final words!
Dear All! Yesterday we had the last few hours of coding after one after the other had to catch the train at Bolzano train station and their plane/train to go home (well Andre used his car and should still be somewhere near ;). Saying goodbye is always a bit sad, but we had really nice and productive days together with the (more or less) promise that we will see us again next year in Portugal (yes Jose' we are taking you by the word ;) This year was the meeting with the most developers ever, and we even had the luck to have a LyX User present! Andre's girlfriend helped us out with debugging! Thanks Konni! :) We where also lucky we didn't have the dreaded out of beer syndrom as last year in Norway where we didn't calculate public holidays right, so we where always in the right mood to do some real good coding #:O) Well to tell you the truth I (Jürgen) didn't code that much this year. :( Unfortunately having a business and family in the same place put's some restrictions on the free time. I would have liked to code a lot more, but it seemed also important to attend my fellow developers in the right way so that at least they could concentrate on coding and I hope I did it right :) As proposed by a lot of you the focus of this years meeting was to resolve questions we need to release a 1.2.0 version soon. I really think we held to this and did our best to fix as much stuff as we could in the short time we had together. I have still some work open I couldn't finish and hope to commit this last stuff VERY soon (you'll be surprised ;) Jürgen (for all develpers and users who were present this year) -- -._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._ Dr. Jürgen VignaE-Mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Italienallee 13/N Tel/Fax: +39-0471-450260 / +39-0471-450253 I-39100 Bozen Web: http://www.sad.it/~jug -._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._-._ "The C Programming Language -- A language which combines the flexibility of assembly language with the power of assembly language."

A virtual row is exactly that a row which you create by Ctrl-Return, and yes i is needed that you insert at least 1 character to create a new one. Pay attention that creating a row in one cell does visually create them also in the other cells but they are not there really until you do the Ctrl-Return also in that cell for all the virtual rows in the other cells of the same row. (a bit confusing but I hope you understand ;) this will all change in the upcoming new LyX version when we have tabular-insets the Ctrl-Return hack will vanish and the cell will break automatically in rows (as normal text does) if you set a lenght for that cell. You let LaTeX do it as it wants and this is not left-aligned but it is "block" aligned, therefore the spaces you don't want! 2. You do it with the Linebreaks mechanism. This puts a \parbox in the cell and also puts \\ (linebreaks after each line) this gives you a left aligned paragraph wich breaks lines where you broke them in the cell (but attention it also breaks line if you have too long text in one row!) For 1. there is nothing to tell about it works as it is intended to work. For 2. you have to pay attention that in one tabular-row you have the same amount of virtual rows so you have to put at least a Ctrl-space as one char in EACH virtual row so that all has the same hight as otherwise the parbox centers vertically in the cell! Hope this helps you to understand better what's going on.
