I second that! I was ready to lose my mind! Phew

sorry I realized I was being perhaps cryptic.

specifically:
\usepackage[no-math]{mathspec}
in my preamble seems to make instant preview stop functioning.
I am using xetex, and I have tried many combinations of settings, but it all
seems to boil down to this line.
I want to be able to set the font for math.
Perhaps another package for this exists?

In a possible related vein, I also noticed that
adding the following to my preamble also is breaking instant preview:

\newtheoremstyle{mytheorem} %hnamei
{\topsep}% Space above
{\topsep}% Space below
{\ttfamily} % hBody fonti
{} % hIndent amounti1
{\ttfamily} % hTheorem head fonti
{:} % hPunctuation after theorem headi
{.5em} % hSpace after theorem headi2
{} % hTheorem head spec (can be left empty, meaning ‘normal’)i
\theoremstyle{mytheorem} % this should set the current theorem style to
mytheorem?
\newtheorem{mytheorem}{My Theorems} %this loads the new theorem style and uses
"My Theorems" as its heading
%\newtheorem{thm}{Theorem}
--

These may or may not be related. They work (that is to say act to break)
independently of each other.

I ahve just discovered, arduously, that using mathspec prevents preview from
working. Is this a bug, feature, or other?

You know, uh, duh, I am embarassed to say, that actually I remember passing
over

a loose reference to it somewhere, (not sure why I ignored it perhaps because
the

reference was couched in someone's techspeak I didn't understand) in the midst
of

a long fruitless google search that turned up nothing but a skimpy reference to

the fact that somebody named Uw...uh...hmm...had added support for it and a

longwinded discussion purportedly about it but really aimed at developers, god

bless 'em...but now I see that it is carefully clearly and meticulously spelled

out in the EmbeddedObjects (what does that mean? Sounds like something to do
with

graphics or something? Why is there no space in the middle? Why should I be

looking there?) manual even though the user's guide doesn't mention it.

In other words, I am a fool, thanks for adding support for it, it is cool, you

are da bomb, and now I see how it works. yippie.

:-)

ps why does gmane balk at lines over 80 characters? I mean who writes
paragraphs with less that 80 characters?

Re: install not finding classes in miktek

2012-02-01 Thread d c
OK, so now I reinstalled everything not in Program Files, thinking perhaps the
UAC in Vista was causing the problem. I noticed as it was installing that:
checking for an HTML previewer...
+checking for "firefox"... no
checking for a Postscript previewer...
+checking for "ghostview"... no

this seems strange since these are installed on my system...WUWT?

checking for an OpenDocument/OpenOffice viewer...
+checking for "oowriter"... no
why not check for libreoffice?

opening lyx...fingers crossed...

YAYmy classes are there!! thank god for small favors

Furthermore, I just uninstalled lyx and miktex and reinstalled from the bundled
installer.
Same problem.

Any clues at all???

install not finding classes in miktek

2012-01-31 Thread d c
I just installed version 2.0.2 Friday nov. 25 2011

When I open files, if I look under settings, document class,
all my document classes are reported as missing.

The following info may or may not be relevant:
when I go to tool tex information it seems to have the various class files in
various places, such as
C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.9\tex\latex
C:\ProgramData\MiKTeX\2.9\tex\latex
C:\Users\HP_User\AppData\Roaming\MiKTeX\2.9\tex\latex

First I installed, encountered the error, uninstalled, manually removed the
folder in program files and in C:\Users\my user\AppData\Roaming, and then
reinstalled as administrator

I have tried various solutions from the mailing list, e.g.
I have tried reconfiguring restarting
I have tried setting my install packages on the fly both to yes and to no
I ahve tried updating my file name database

clues?

thx in advance
