Not just me, I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and I'm certainly having
mine.
I've just received an iGrill thermometer for myself for Christmas and these
things are damn nice.
I'm only getting started so I don't know everything there is to know about the
device yet but I can tell you that
Sorry forgot to mention, if anyone is thinking of buying this product and wants
to know more about the iGrill itself, the App and how its used for cooking then
they can follow the link to the PDF version of the manual which I've put up on
my Dropbox
A friend has rung me after being advised by Apple Support to upgrade his
Snow Leopard to Mavericks so he can properly synch his new iPhone 5S.
His MBA is however now unusable.
I can hear his Voiceover over the phone and even in List view Voiceover is
constantly saying Finder busy. He is also
I'm curious in the first place what he was doing with Snow Leopard
installed. I didn't think the airs were even around back in the days of
Snow Leopard. the only thing that I can think maybe is, what model air is
this? How much ram and processor power does he have? How much hard disk
I believe he should be able to close the current finder window, which is
causing issues. After doing this, he can try rebooting the computer or force
finder to relaunch itself.
To close the Finder window, try command-w. TO force Finder to relaunch, open
the Force Quit dialog with
It is definitely an Air.
Specs may well be a problem but he is not very technical and was following
Apple support advice.

Unfortunately multiple reboots have not cleared the issue for him.
The steps I have so far recommended and which have not worked are.
1. I have got him to turn voiceover on and off.
2. I have got him to reboot.
3. I have told him how to get into list view using command 2.
4. I have got
I suppose a specification issue is possible. If he had an early
generation of the AIr, it might be off the official support list for
10.9. I can't recall it off the top of my head, but Googling should turn
it up prety easily.
I'd definitely call Apple support again, possibly the accessibility
Well, what did they tell 'em to do specifically, I mean, yeah, ok, upgrade.
Duh! I know that. LOL! What I mean is, specifically, how! did they have
him do so? Can you find out?
Chris.

Hi all -
I'm in touch with the developers of the Skoog. So far, the sofware isn't
compatible with VO, but they say they have been working on it, and will get
back to me when it is.
I've also suggested they create more sound demos for the Skoog, as there isn't
much on their website, or on
David,
Do this at your own risk. I'm wonderring if his system is indexing things
with spotlight, and thus, is unresponsive. I had another guy on this list
who will be left unsaid, who had this issue, and I was able to solve it on
his machine by doing this.
Let's disable spotlight
I think the specs for Mavericks are exactly the same that were for Mountain
Lion. Does he have any external drives connected to his MBA?

All my updates so far, have had no cost.
If I was to purchase Abby fine reader from the mac store, will there be
additional cost as it is updated?

Hi Mark,
Updates have nearly always in my experience been free. I’ve known a few cases
where an app developer charges a fee for a new version, but that seems to be
quite rare, especially on the Mac App Store.
Best,
Zack.

That $54.99 price for Nisus Writer Pro is good for the Mac app store, too. And

Hi,
It’s possible that I’m not used to how it’s supposed to work. I don’t have very
specific document formatting requirements, so tend to draft only and trust it
to do the right thing. Perhaps I ought to look into it more thoroughly.
Best,
