I'm trying to move one of my folders on my desktop to the dock. I went to

Hello Margaret,
Sounds like maybe keyboard commander is turned on and the command to Run
Applescript script “Time of Day” is enabled.
You can view and change this option by opening the VO Utility, navigating to
the “Commanders” category, and selecting the “keyboard commander” tab.

My friend told me that I have to turn my hardware keys to software keys on
my new Mac Book Air. How do I do this? If I do it can it be reversed? She

Wouldn’t using sharp keys and switching the caps lock to the right options key
fix that? It would also enable the use of the caps lock key as the jaws or NVDA

Are you using Mavericks?
I think the command has changed under Mavericks because of tabbed windows in
Finder.
I do not use Mavericks yet but I seem to recall you now have to add the
option key to command shift T but somebody else should probably confirm
this.

Hi there!
This setting is in the keyboard section of your system preferences.
And, you don’t *have* to change this, it’s mostly personal preference.
With this setting, one way makes it so you can adjust screen brightness, etc,
with the function keys. If you leave it that way, you’ll have to also
The way I learn about these modified menu options is by luck, when I
am reading about a particular topic, or by navigating to each menu
option, then press Option key by itself to see if VO announces
anything.
If the menu changes when I press the Option key by itself, I can

Hi all,
I was busy answering e-mails and my MacBook Air announced that voice over was

Does anyone know the command to unmute the speech?
Thanks Sharon

Generally on the Mac you press VO Space on an element to confirm, or if

Enter will sometimes work as does the spacebar but not always or vice versa

However if Voiceover is saying you need to restart the likelihood is that

You need to take some time out exploring the Voiceover utility.
Open the utility , navigate down until you hear Voiceover say table , Now
you need to interact with this table to hear all the customisable elements

Hello there. I apologize for coming in here so late but I was at work. The best

Hi!
Does anyone know how this is done?
I put a date at the top of my shopping list and I type this in manually every
time I update the list but would would be far more convenient if there was a
way of Pages inserting the date every time the document was updated.

I think at this stage you need to update the date manually. Some word
processors allow you to insert a last modified date, and Maybe Apple will add
this in a future update to Pages, but for now we have to manually update the
date like 20th Century fools.

The normal Date field in the Insert menu works fine, it’s just date fields in
predefined templates that are flaky.
