Hey Folks,
I got a brand-spanking new 233GB hard drive [1] for my laptop,
partitioned into two pieces:
178GB for my main stuff w/ Leopard as the OS
55GB w/ Tiger as the OS (for testing stuff my wife might use on her
laptop).
Both partitions were populated by using the new version of

I suspect the response directing you to the Macfixit forum will solve
your problem, but I thought I'd describe a similar experience that I
encountered on several occasions when dragging-and-dropping an
attached file from Apple's Mail program to the Desktop. This happened

What is the best antivirus software to buy to use with Leopard? I used to

That would scare me. My computer makes noises right before the HD

Bill, when you partition the drive you must make sure you set the
partitions to the correct formatting scheme: GUID Partition Table for
MacIntels and Apple Partition Map for Power PC Macs. MacIntels will
not boot with APM and Power PC Macs will not boot wuth GUID

Lee,
VERY interesting, thanks so much. I don't use virus software and
sometimes wonder if I am walking a tightrope, and I don't degrag but
about once a year. If the system does begin to act weird then
running DiskWarrior solves everything and there has been little need
to defrag.
Been using iDefrag for a couple of years now, with the regular
revision updates to the program, and never had more than a
system alert sound (make noises when done) beyond normal
expectations.
As far as I've read or heard, the system OS does NOTHING to
