Go to security under general and almost all the way to the right there’s an area where you can set from App Store only. If you’re trying to install as well you’ll see in many cases a one off entry where you can approve the specific application. The key is to be under general under security.

Thatmay be do to really old hardware. Don’t have these issues on a new model. I did have return from sleep mode issues in the beta but that’s the beta so a different animal but somewhat related to your log in issues so it might indicate in your case a problem supporting the older display

One that comes to mind is VO, after closing an app such as Finder, it goes to the desktop and whatever item is focused, VO will repeat it 3 times. Another one is when I stop interacting, VO does not always say anything as if I did not stop interacting. From E.T.'s Keyboard...
