RE: How to set up Apple TV and some brief information about it

2018-12-03 Thread Matthew Horspool
Hi, Dictation works about as well on the Apple TV as it does anywhere else in the Apple ecosystem. As for your other questions, I would suggest doing a Google search as there is plenty of information already out there which we would just be regurgitating. There are also some useful podcasts at:

RE: Changing VoiceOver Voice

2018-12-03 Thread Matthew Horspool
Hi Angus, If the default says Karen but you are hearing Daniel, you have somehow added Daniel to your rotor and switched to that. I note you struggle with the rotor, but if you can struggle with it just enough to switch away from Daniel, that would be useful. To delete Daniel from the rotor

RE: Changing VoiceOver Voice

2018-12-03 Thread Matthew Horspool
Hi, No, it's not possible to add more than one voice for a given language/dialect. For instance, you cannot have both Samantha and Tom in the rotor as they are both US voices, but you could have Samantha and Daniel as one is US and the other is UK. The exception to this is that your default

Hi Simon, That's an excellent point about no 3D Touch on the XR – I'd forgotten about that! I should stress that this is just to do with pressing down on the screen, though – the rest of the haptic stuff is there. To be honest, the lack of a home button is probably an advantage rather than a

Hi, For smart heating I use a system from a company called Tado. I purchased it because of its Homekit integration but actually, I find I very rarely have to use the Homekit side of the operation because it all just works. The basic setup is a smart thermostat. However, you can also add smart

RE: Apple Watch Exercise Ring

2018-11-21 Thread Matthew Horspool
Hi Jeff, I have an incling that the exercise ring on the Apple Watch adjusts itself dynamically as it builds up a picture of what constitutes regular activity for you. In other words, you may very well be doing 30 minutes worth of exercise, but if that exercise doesn't look much more strenuous

RE: iPhone Battery Guide: Charging Your iPhone the Right Way

2018-11-21 Thread Matthew Horspool
Hi, Modern batteries in things like iPhones work on a "charge cycle" basis. A charge from absolute 0% to absolute 100% constitutes a full "charge cycle". A charge from absolute 0% to exactly 50%, or exactly 50% to absolute 100%, would constitute half a "charge cycle". The battery has a number

Hi Mary, I have a Homepod. I will probably get another. But my impressions of it are basically the same as all the reviews you'll find if you Google it: Homepod hardware is absolutely second to none. Sound is fantastic, the microphones can hear me speaking at normal volume from miles away.
