One thought, I chose the announce time each quarter hour using the daniel
voice. This was done in the configuration area where that time
choice is made, there was also a voice option there. This was to make it sound
distinct fromn the default voice so it was brought to my

What voice do you have defined to read system alerts? (System
Preferences->Dictation & Speech->Text to speech tab->System Voice)

Go to System, Library, Speech, Voices. Daniel
I don't know if this will work but can't hurt to try it. Find the
Voices folder in the library and delete Daniel.

I've only started noticing it recently on a machine I'm setting up for work,
I've changed my default to alex but Daniel keeps sticking his nose in to

You mention that one place you are hearing Daniel is on system messages. There
is an option in system settings under Dictation and Speech to read system
messages. This willies the default system voice not VoiceOver voices. So this
