If all you want to do is disable the account when you are not working, then
that is the simplest solution.
Disabling an email account using Internet Accounts, is a more long-term
solution, because that method completely removes the account from your Mail
app. Then, when you want to use the
Oh, interesting. I didn’t know you can do that. I’ll have to explore that
further. I have entirely too many email addresses. lol

I used to use the same method of creating a mailbox that combined my personal
accounts and making that cmd+1, then making my work mailbox cmd+2. Now… I just
don't bother for some reason, a lot of my work emails come to my personal mail
anyway since my GitHub account is attached to my personal

Hi Jonathan,
Thanks! That’s an interesting approach. I have like three personal email
addresses, so just taking the work account offline might be easier, but I’ll
keep your solution in mind, in case mine turns out to have a fatal flaw.

I had an issue similar to this, and what I did was to remove the all inbox
folder from favorites and add in separate Work and Home Inboxes instead. Then I
could type command-2 to review Work emails and and command-1 to review
personal ones.
Let me know if you need more details.
Hi Brad,
I work remotely these days, so what I’m trying to accomplish is not seeing my
work email in the morning until I’m ready to go to work. Taking the account
offline seems to have worked, the account is still offline from when I took it
offline before going to bed last night. Is there
Another way to do this, is to go to System Preferences > Internet Accounts, and
disable the mail account there.

I am unaware of any reason why it would not enable until you do so. I had
sinking issues with an exchange mail server that I was unaware of for several
months.

Hi all,
I would like to be able to disable my work email on my Mac when I don’t want to
see those emails. If I take that account offline, how long will it stay
offline? Ideally, I’d like it to stay offline until I bring it back online.
TIA,
Donna

The following information is important
No, your Mac does not know what email accounts are on your iPhone. Some things
are shared between iOS and Mac via iCloud, but email accounts are not. You
will need to setup any email account you have on your iPhone, again on your Mac.
The process is similar to setting up your Gmail account
No, you shouldn't. Because the Mac will have its own preferences. And it will
want you to log into each one.

Hi, Group.
I have four email accounts in my iPhone. Should I assume that since
everything is on the same network, Mac should know all my email accounts?
Thanks!

What you have to do is find the “Exchange” button in the “New Account Types”
table. Then, Interact with that table, and then, interact with that button, and

Hope this helps,

activate. I've tried highlighting Exchange in the provider list, but that
doesn't help. Has something changed in Sierra that I
