Well here hear is my second failed attempt. I tabbed twice after going to my
phone name and entered int eh code and hit enter. After hitting enter, nothing

to add deleted messages to trash that might not be checked or you might have it

Well, the simple and inelegant solution is to have messages not be moved to
trash, have it purged every month, and set it to hide deleted messages. That
seems like it'll work for me. Thanks for all your help. If I run into any more
similar snares, I'll consider reinstalling Mail.
