In this case it has worked and you could be right yes,
But the lists or email services providing your lists may not allow to see
headers.

Disk util is fine for a basic scan / look at what's happening,
You could do a first aid on it and see if it finds anything of concern on the
drive,
The other thing is that if the cable for the external drive is removeable then
possibly you should try another cable if not a complete drive bay

It may have worked. The first attempt, I forgot to check disk space
but second time I did and afterwards, some space was freed up. But I may
