The idea is to drag the horizontal splitter to the bottom of the screen. This
is why you have to bring the mouse to the splitter before pressing down on the
trackpad.

utility, select your external hard drive, select the partition tab and
follow the instructions. It will ask you how many partitions and what
sizes and formats you want.

It's a text based system which will work on any platform.
